It was a gloomy day in Dublin as Auden entered the cafe where she had run into Cillian almost three months prior. She couldn't believe how much had happened since that morning between her and the famous actor - but she did know that things had been a lot less complicated before she split coffee on him. It had been a week since she had left the voicemail on his phone, and all she could do now was move on. She had to face the reality that she could not continue to hold out for him - Auden had made it clear that she was willing to talk. But the reality was that Cillian clearly did not want to talk to her, so Auden decided to put her energy into Patrick and to see where it went.
Auden's eyes scanned for Patrick, who was sitting in the back corner of the small space. He had on a knitted-wool orange turtleneck that suited his skin tone beautifully. The fall aesthetic fit Patrick well. She smiled at him as the pair made eye contact and Patrick gestured her over to the table. When she sat down, she noticed that he had already ordered her a her favorite drink and a croissant. The gesture warmed her heart. Auden wrapped her cold hands around the warm mug, shivering slightly at the sudden change in temperature. She took a sip, the hot liquid soothing her chilled body.
"Your hair looks great," Patrick tilted his chin to analyze her new blonde hair. Auden blushed as she began playing with the ends. In an emotional spur of events, Auden decided to get her hair done to relieve some stress. Every girl knew it was the cure to looming mental breakdowns.
"I wanted a change," Auden said, smoothing down the top of her head.
"Well it suits you. You look beautiful," Patrick smiled at her over the rim of his cup.
Auden felt herself blush even more, "Thanks."
She took a bite out of the croissant that Patrick had bought as he set down his mug on the wooden table, "How is the exhibit coming along?" Patrick inquired.
"A lot smoother than I thought. We are just waiting for the rest of your canvases to be sent over and we should be golden for opening next week," Auden brushed the crumbs off her fingers before resting her hands on the table.
Patrick's hand reached across, cupping her in hand. He rubbed his thumb across the top of her knuckles softly. "You're doing great work," Patrick murmured.
