CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR
"The Newest Malfoy"
THREE YEARS LATER
"Mama!" Teddy called from the bottom of the stairs. "Mama! Is breakfast going to be ready soon?"
Teddy had began to grow impatient, his hair changing from turquoise to red and his eyes changing from blue to dark black, nearly the color of the eyes of Severus Snape.
Aurora walked down the stairs, exhausted from a night lacking sleep, only to find that Teddy had opened and closed every cabinet in the kitchen, in search of food and snacks. She knew that Teddy had only done this because Draco was locked up in his office, doing work from home. Teddy would not have dared to make such a mess had Draco been there to see it.
"You're lucky that Daddy is still on a work call," Aurora said to him as she shut the cabinets. "You know he doesn't like when you make messes like this."
"He also doesn't like when I shout." Teddy shrugged. "Did he use the sound proof charm on his office again?"
Aurora nodded. "He sure did." She reached into the fridge and picked out the milk and syrup and began to mix pancake batter in a bowl as she waited for a pan on the stove to heat up. "You shouldn't shout in the house anyways, Teddy. It's not polite."
"I'm sorry." Teddy frowned as he pulled out his chair and sat at the long oak table, patiently waiting for his mother to be finished cooking his breakfast. "I'll do my best not to do it again."
She smiled as she placed a cup of juice in front of him, kissing him gently on the head.
"You must remember that you've got an example to set now." Aurora spoke in a calm voice to soothe him. "It's not going to be just you anymore, there's only a matter of days, maybe two weeks left until you're a big brother."
Teddy smiled. "I really hope it's a boy."
"I know it is," Aurora replied.
But Teddy laughed and shook his head. "You believe what my great grandfather told you?"
Aurora walked back and forth from the stove, placing a pancake and syrup in front of the eager boy.
"Of course I do," Aurora smiled. "He's never been wrong. Told me and your Dad all about you, before you came to us."
"What else did he tell you?" Teddy asked. "About me?"
Aurora sat down across from him, and took a sip of her own juice. She took a deep breath and rested one hand on her stomach. Every time she looked at Teddy she couldn't help but smile. Each and every day he had grown into such a wonderful child, more and more well behaved, although he had his slips, she could never complain.
She thought back to all the things Grandfather Malfoy had told her and Draco about their lives. About their future together, and their children, and even all the horrid things that eventually did happen to them.
But the one thing that made her happiest to think about was Teddy. And how he knew all about Teddy.
"You were meant to save us." Aurora told him, she could feel herself having to choke down tears of both joy and sorrow. "Actually, we were all meant to save each other. There was never going to be a way to save your parents, and Abraxus told us that it was meant to be this way, he even told your mother that too. She was fully prepared and that's why she made the choice to place you with Daddy and I, and it has been the highest honor of my life."
Teddy grinned as he was chewing, he took another sip to wash his food down and then said to Aurora, "I know she was a good mom-"
"She was a wonderful mother, Teddy." Aurora corrected him.
