Participating of a survival show to become an idol was a nerve-wracking experience for everyone involved. Not only for the participants themselves, but for the producers as well, who obviously wanted the show to be a success to justify the investment. The viewers as well suffered their fair share of anxiety. Sunghoon, however, felt a lot more than just that.

His entire being was filled with way too many different emotions. For starters, he was shitting himself with nervousness. That much was obvious. Yet he also felt strangely excited about it all, the experiences and people he’d met. But on the matter of meeting new people, well, he was quite shy and he was a little uneasy about the idea of literally living with these people for weeks —months, even. People he didn’t know, that could be alphas while he was an omega. They had assured them multiple times that nothing could happen to them, but Sunghoon never fully believed them. He was thankful that some faces were familiar between the trainees that kept getting into I-Land.

And then he felt disgust, anger and bile as alpha Lee Heeseung came into view.

Don’t get him wrong, he knew Heeseung was an amazing dancer and singer, there was no doubt he would be debuting and Sunghoon didn’t feel even one bit of jealousy. No, it wasn’t that. Sunghoon could be a bit petty sometimes. Jay, his unit partner, would say that he was too dramatic about the reason and his reaction. But Jay simply didn’t get it.

Sunghoon was extremely proud of his scent, that was a fact. He smelt delicious and amazing, the perfect scent to go with his looks. He knew this and was a bit vain about it, but who could blame him? He knew his worth. So, when Heeseung had said he smelt ridiculous the first time they met, Sunghoon took it personally and as an attack to his entire existence. He would not let anyone insult him like that, not even perfect-alpha-Lee Heeseung. He didn’t care that Heeseung was older than him, he would not tolerate that from anyone.

So what if he used to think Heeseung was attractive? He’d been an idiot at the time. Besides, he hadn’t really known Heeseung back then, he had just seen him around while training and heard a lot about him from others. Everyone was talking about how talented and handsome he was, Sunghoon naturally agreed with them. Well, maybe he still thought Heeseung was too damn pretty, but it still didn’t excuse him from his comment.

On the show, he’d have to pretend not to hate Heeseung too much, it wouldn’t look well. He wanted to debut, after all, and hating on someone who was obviously going to be part of the debut line-up wouldn’t do him any favours. Still, he wouldn’t become his friend, he had no reason to. If they ended up debuting together… Sunghoon would figure it out, he was sure there were plenty of idols who hated other members of their own group. It couldn’t be that hard.

If asked, he would never admit to having had a crush on him; he would never mention the remains of it or how Sunghoon was denying the obvious attraction even to himself. He'd say he was doing a pretty good job of pretending he didn't despise Heeseung as much as he actually did, though Jay would disagree. Still, Sunghoon would chalk that up to Jay simply knowing him better and having been present at the moment when they had met. Meaning, the moment he realised Heeseung was a stupid, asshole, alpha.

There had been a few slips, a couple of moments where he simply couldn’t hide his irritation, but he was certain they hadn’t been captured by any cameras. He was safe, for the moment, and the other contestants may just assume they were outbursts due to the pressure, not because of Heeseung.

“So… what happened?” Sunoo, another omega, startled Sunghoon by approaching him from behind and suddenly asking a rather random question.

“What happened with what?” Sunghoon tried to not let on how stunned he had been. Though, he was completely showing his confusion.
