One thing Sunghoon would soon learn was that no one should tempt their luck by making Jungwon mad. He hadn’t realised at first what he had awoken with his newfound distance towards Heeseung, but it wouldn’t be long before he’d regret it.

Jungwon was a great leader. Sunghoon could easily agree with that statement, in the short period he’d been in the position Jungwon had more than proven himself. For them, there was never a day without work and Jungwon made sure they got everything done in time. Everyone else helped as much as they could, but Jungwon was definitely one of the reasons everything hadn’t gone to shit yet. One of the reasons Sunghoon’s sudden distance towards Heeseung hadn’t become a hot topic within the fandom or the company, honestly.

Sunghoon was grateful, but he hadn’t expected the scolding once promotions had ended. They’d been a group for a month and a day and Jungwon was already looking murderous. Sunghoon hadn’t seen it coming at all.

“Care to explain why you are behaving like a child again?” Sunghoon had been so taken aback the only thing he could process was that he felt offended at the comparison. He wasn’t a child.

“Sorry?” He still apologised because he had learnt not to cross Jungwon when he was particularly infuriated.

“No, I just want to understand,” he stopped. Sunghoon was confused but decided it was safer not to speak until Jungwon was done. “I thought you and Heeseung-hyung had worked things out, why are you back at… this.”

“Oh,” Sunghoon realised then that maybe he shouldn’t have shifted so drastically in his attitude towards Heeseung. At least he had kept the façade going while in public. “There’s issues that just can’t be solved.” Hopefully Jungwon would understand. Some people simply weren’t meant to get along.

“But you seemed to be getting closer, then one day things just- you stopped trying,” Jungwon explained what he’d been thinking. “You went as far as pulled away, actually, and it didn’t seem like Heeseung-hyung had done anything.” Jungwon wasn’t wrong, not from his perspective at least. He was missing some information.

“I know,” Sunghoon admitted. “Let’s say I got a little distracted and forgot… um, what he’s done, but then I was reminded of it and had to… take some steps back.”

“But what has he done for you to be so averse to him? I can’t imagine him doing anything that bad,” Jungwon had become less angry with the conversation, it showed that he simply wanted to help.

“Does it really matter? I promise I’ll behave in public so…” Sunghoon hoped that was enough.

“I want to say no, that it doesn’t matter, but…” Jungwon hesitated. “But it scares me a bit.”

“Why? You aren’t involved at all,” Sunghoon pointed out, though he believed it was obvious, his issue was just with Heeseung.

“I guess, but also you are both part of the group.” Jungwon attempted to explain his thought process. “If you have such a major issue with him, nothing guarantees me you won’t leave the first chance you get.” Sunghoon almost scoffed, that would never cross his mind. “I keep thinking that this will cause arguments and disagreements in the group, that the hostility that exists between you two will break us…”

In Sunghoon’s mind, his problem with Heeseung only affected them, he was starting to realise that wasn’t the case. Or rather, he was starting to understand that it could affect the whole group’s dynamic. They couldn’t trust that Sunghoon wouldn’t up and leave once he couldn’t stand Heeseung any longer. They couldn’t be certain that Heeseung wouldn’t one day explode and fight Sunghoon for the way he treated him. They couldn’t truly bond as a group while two of their members where at such odds with one another.
