It’d been a couple of days since the announcement of the final line-up for the group, and Sunghoon was just now starting to understand what it really meant. He was also starting to reconsider never having the talk about his scent with Heeseung. He was pretty certain Heeseung would be chosen as leader. He wasn’t sure yet if it was up to them or the company, and that meant he’d have to talk to him at some point. It was one thing to be fighting with another member, and something completely different for him to be the leader.

When they were called to discuss and vote on who the leader should be, Sunghoon was pleasantly surprised. It did not mean he was any more hopeful that Heeseung wouldn’t still be the leader, but it felt nice nonetheless. He could, theoretically, come up with a decent argument as to why Heeseung shouldn’t be the leader. However, he was not that good with words and he definitely didn’t have any good arguments for it.

But then, Heeseung surprised him.

“I think Jungwon should be the leader,” Heeseung had said.

Sunghoon would have been embarrassed by his reaction, if they all hadn’t looked similarly dumbfounded. Everything was pointing at him to be the leader, but he was pointing somewhere else. What really shocked Sunghoon was that he was choosing a young omega to be the leader. No normal alpha would let an omega have more power than them, especially not a younger one. But Heeseung was weird, and Sunghoon could admit that without gnashing his teeth.

“Uh… me?” Jungwon asked, as shocked as Sunghoon but a lot more involved in the conversation. “Why?”

“Because… I think you’d make a better leader?” Heeseung explained poorly.

“Hyung, no offence, but I think most of us were assuming you’d be the leader,” Sunoo tried to help him. “So, you’ll have to expand on that idea of yours, because we are all lost.”

“It’s… I’m not very good with conflicts,” Heeseung started. Sunghoon could almost swear he heard Jay chuckle, but he couldn’t be sure since he was at the other end of the table. “I think I may be too patient for the role,” he admitted.

“Can you be too patient for something?” Jake asked, genuinely curious.

“Yes,” Heeseung insisted. “Sometimes you shouldn’t tolerate so much or allow for things to get to certain points, and I don’t think I can do that- that I’ll be able to handle those things.” Sunghoon listened carefully, and maybe he was being paranoid, but he thought Heeseung was talking about their fight. “But Jungwon, I think he can do those things, that he’d be better than me for this,” he finished his reasoning.

“You know, now that you say it, I kind of agree,” Jay was the first to speak after that. Sunoo and Jake both laughed.

“Of course, you would,” Sunoo commented. It was, after all, no secret that Jay was a little whipped for Jungwon. Sunghoon wanted to see where that would go.

“What? You don’t?” Jay immediately became defensive.

“Oh, no, I do agree,” Sunoo calmed him down. “But let’s not ignore the obvious.”

“Shall we vote?” Jungwon asked.

“Like, raising our hands or anonymously?” Questioned Jake. Jungwon just shrugged.

“There’s a reason they gave us these papers, I guess,” Jungwon pointed out, so they quickly wrote their vote and they counted them.

Jungwon won six to one, and Sunghoon suspected that one vote for Heeseung had come from Jungwon himself.

“So, do we talk about Heeseung-hyung and Sunghoon-hyung’s issue now or later?” Riki asked as soon as the voting had finished.

“Riki!” Jungwon scolded him, but everyone else was laughing. Everyone except Heeseung and Sunghoon, that is.
