Sunghoon continued with his predicament, pretending not to be affected at all. Like that, it was easier. It did make place for some rather uncomfortable or awkward interactions between him and Heeseung, however. It wasn’t really that bad and mostly only happened when they got a bit too comfortable; when Sunghoon got too comfortable. Momentarily, Sunghoon would forget that he didn’t want Heeseung to know anything about his growing feelings, which would cause then for things to get awkward when Sunghoon remembered that fact.
So, for the most part, things were good. He couldn’t say things were perfect, because if he continued to be an idiot Heeseung would realise what was going on, but they were good enough. Stable. Manageable.
The others would argue that they were more than a little weird towards each other. Especially Jay, he’d constantly groan or walk away whenever he saw them together. According to him, it was like looking at an unavoidable car crash in slow motion. He’d also compare it to watching a never-ending cringe romance movie you already knew the ending of, but that kept putting it off for no good reason. Sunghoon thought he was a tad bit too dramatic, and he’d constantly remind Jay that his relationship with Heeseung had nothing to be considered from a romance movie.
Jay had never continued the discussion after Sunghoon mentioned that.
“I think Jay’s been watching too many dramas,” Heeseung commented after sitting next to Sunghoon on the floor even if the Sofa was completely free. Sunghoon’s heart almost stopped thinking about what Jay could have done or said for Heeseung to reach that conclusion.
“Why do you say that?” Sunghoon asked as casually as he could manage, pretending to still be paying attention to the movie playing on the TV.
“No reason in particular, he’s just been coming up with some really weird theories,” Heeseung commented. Sunghoon hummed, he changed his position and Heeseung immediately moved to lay down on his lap.
“What kind of theories?” Sunghoon tried to remain relaxed, with Heeseung’s head on his thighs, he could not be tense or Heeseung would notice.
“Uh… just weird stuff,” Heeseung didn’t want to elaborate, it appeared. “Keeps saying silly things about m- our friendship, which is dumb because we have a normal friendship, right?”
“Yeah, of course,” Sunghoon agreed so fast his brain hadn’t registered what Heeseung was actually asking. He nodded along anyway, because he would not point out his own feelings there. If Jay had been hinting at Heeseung that Sunghoon liked him, he was going to kill Jay.
“Right, yeah, exactly.” Heeseung sounded nervous, kind of strange, but Sunghoon chose to ignore it for his own sanity. “Let’s not talk about Jay’s ridiculous theories, what are you watching?” Heeseung said, even though he’d be the one to bring up Jay’s ideas.
“To be honest, I have no idea,” Sunghoon answered, eager to change the topic without sounding suspicious. The fact that he’d gotten confused about the plot of the movie wasn’t even Heeseung’s fault, he’d been trying to figure it out since the beginning and had gotten nowhere. “Do you want to start it over? Maybe if I start it again, I’ll understand something,” Sunghoon offered and Heeseung laughed while nodding.
Sunghoon forgot all about Jay and his theories for a while, not really minding that everyone else seemed to be aware of his feelings for Heeseung as long as Heeseung himself remained oblivious. The others may not have been as okay with it as Sunghoon was, but it wasn’t up to them. Jake especially, made sure to make it obvious to Sunghoon that he did not agree. He’d roll his eyes and comment whenever he saw Heeseung and Sunghoon together. He’d done it so often, Sunghoon wasn’t even affected by it any longer.
