Tell Me The Truth

7th July 1973, Saturday

James Potter's last day being a second year student at Hogwarts had come around much quicker than he had expected. All students were due to return home for the summer first thing Sunday morning, meaning three things for James.

One. Pranks. Many of them. He and the other boys had more than a handful of their best pranks to date planned for their last hoorah as second years. Oh it was going to be so good.

Two. He was four months into being thirteen years old and was still to go on his first date. Sirius had told him many times that once they were finally teenagers they would be snogging and dating different girls every weekend... this had not been the case. James was going to change that, he was going to ask a girl, one particular girl, to go on a date with him over the summer holidays.

And, Three. It was the annual Quidditch camp out the coming evening, so in preparation for absolutely no sleep, James had allowed himself (for the first time that year) a lie in.

All of the aforementioned things were equally exciting for James, but the latter was cut short as the shrilling sound of his sister bursting through The Marauders dorm room awoke him just as the sun was rising.

"James Fleamont Potter." Iris' voice shrieked as the door slammed against the stone wall. "I am going to murder you and I'm going to be so happy doing it."

James quickly sat up, reaching around his pillow for the circular glasses that had gone missing in the night before opening the curtain surrounding his bed just enough to see both Sirius and Peter hurdle out of their own beds and scramble to the bathroom.

"We had absolutely nothing to do with it." Peter whined through the bathroom door.

"Little James." Sirius' voice followed. "You know I love you as if you were my own sister, I could never do such a revolting thing—"

James couldn't help but chuckle to himself, imagining the two of them pinned on the other side of the door, pushing tightly against it in case Iris decided to come after them as well. She had threatened to murder Peter in his sleep many times when the three of them were growing up, and Sirius too when he stayed over during the summer.

She could be quite scary. James didn't blame them for hiding from her.

"Save it." Iris cut Sirius off and James watched as she paced across the dorm. "You can hide all you want, but the two of you have to come out at some point and trust me— I will be waiting when you do."

Before his little sister managed to reach him, James yanked the curtains fully open and jumped out of his bed, moving away from her very quickly.

"Good morning Irry." He spoke incredibly nonchalantly. "What brings you to our neck of the woods at this time— you know it's quite early, I was actually planning on sleeping in today, so if you wouldn't mind—" James smiled tiredly at her, faking a yawn whilst nodding towards the door.
