Valentina was standing against her locker when her brother walked over. He had wanted to check on her and see how she was doing. "So are you seriously cooking tonight?" He was still a little nervous about what his sister's cooking.

"Yes your mom is helping me." Valentina said.  She didn't like that they were acting as if she was doing it all alone when she did have people to help her with it.

"Should i be worried." Adriano asked.

Valentina shook her head she didn't think that it was that bad. "No i can cook it's just not something that i enjoy."

"So why are you deciding to." Adriano knew if he didn't like doing something he wasn't going to make an effort to do it.

"Something to distract myself while everything is going on." Valentina explained. It helped doing things to distract herself from the garbage fire that was turning out to be her life.

"Are you ok?" Adriano asked. He knew that even if it had been a few weeks since everything it had been a lot,

"Adriano haven't we been over this already." Valentina was sure they talked about it she just needed to focus on anything that wasn't her life.

"You are slowly getting there." Adriano just wanted to help in anyway that he could. "But you are my sister and i have to worry about you. Because you have been through enough and it's our job to make this easier for you."

Valentina nodded she appreciated it she did she just needed to take some time to figure out what she was going to do next. "I know and I appreciate it but i need to learn how to get a grasp of everything. The one parent i got to know was a complete asshole and i never knew dad cause she took me away from him so it's just hard."

"Yeah but if you need anything you need to tell us." Adriano bargained. He wanted to make sure she knew that she had someone to turn to.

"I will try."

"Thanks get to class."

Valentina walked into the kitchen where Elena was waiting. "So are you ready to cook something?"

"yes although my brothers all seem to think i am trying to poison them." Even though if she was trying to kill them she was sure to try and do it a different way.

"They just find this funny don't worry about them."

"While we cook can you tell me about dad?"

"Yeah sure whatever you want to know." Elena had seen Valentina struggling and she wanted to be able to help her in whatever capacity she could.

"I know you told me how you guys met and everything but how was he as a person." Valentina wanted to know how her dad was actually like what he was like and not just his story.

"Umm he was great he was nice kind and charming. He also thought everything had to be by his parents rule and i didn't think that way." Elena knew her in-laws still despised her and that the likely hood of that changing was very thin.

"You mentioned that you weren't their biggest fan." Valentina recalled that much but she also knew that there was probably more to that.

Elena shook her head she knew that her in-laws still probably wished that he wasn't nowhere near there. "Nope i was the high powered lawyer who everyone else hated. They saw me as a threat."

"Because you were different right you were the one who everyone was scared of." Valentina had read up on her during her research and she knew that they all pretty much hated her.

Elena shook her head she knew there was a lot that was sealed in the courts records that weren't allowed to be released to anyone. "Someone tried to rape me when i was a teenager i killed him. Went to trial they offered me an advanced law degree i already had a highschool diploma. They wanted me to change and offered it because i was a minor."

"And they didn't like you." Valentina knew that it made sense.

"No I'm a criminal lawyer who fell in love with a Mafia king to everyone i was the girl on the wrong side of the tracks." And everyone hated that she had been the one who Valentino had chose over everyone else.

"And how did dad see you?" Valentina asked. She was sure that her dad hadn't seen her in that light.

Elena smiled slightly remembering how Valentino used to treat her. Like she was the only one who mattered. "I wasn't just the lawyer i was the girl who showed him that you don't have to be the person everyone else wants you to be. That you can be your own person choose your own path"

"And did he." Valentina asked.

Elena nodded she knew that everyone thought he was supposed to go a certain way but he had changed his mind for her. "yeah he chose me. And we were going to have Ella. Until i was pushed."

"Someone pushed you down the stairs."

Elena looked up to see her three sons. She hadn't even heard the three enter. "Why are you in here?"

"Mom someone pushed you down the stairs." Lorenzo asked This being the first that he was hearing of this.

"It was 28 years ago water under the bridge." At least that was how Elena tried to leave it. She wanted to forget about the worst event of her life.

"And that drove y'all apart."  Valentina asked. She wanted to know as much as he could.

"Yeah but he didn't give up on us." Elena liked remembering some of the parts the one where he faught to keep them together. "Your uncle can tell you better than anyone that i never believed in love and i still don't but things had changed."

"And he loved you."

"Yeah but i have a past and it wasn't always easy for me. He was caring he always loved me even through everything and he always tried to help me through my insecurities. Especially after what Alyssa did. He was a good person even after everything we went through. Even after i got him sent to jail."
