Avery's POV
I walked beside Luca quietly as my mind tried to process what had just happened. I was still in shock that my life was spared so quickly and that my life could have ended right then and there if Don wanted me to.
After his last words, he left me under the care of Luca. I was expected to work at their bar tomorrow night, but for now, I was told to rest in one of the spare bedrooms.
"Don't be afraid, you're one of us now, you're not gonna be put through the interrogation room again." Luca looked at me and offered a gentle smile. "You must have been scared."
"Thank you for saving me." I looked at him as tears began to flood my eyes, blurring my vision. I blinked a few times, letting them drop down my cheeks as I choked back sob.
I'm processing the events now.
"Hey, its okay. Don't cry please Piccolo," He looked around the hallway to make sure no one was looking before bending down to look me in the eye, "I don't know what to do when people cry, um, okay look, I was told to bring you straight to room but if you stop crying i'll take you to our ice cream cabinet and you can choose one to bring back to your room?"
(Little One)
I let out a soft giggle at his panicked reaction and nodded slowly, the tears still falling down the side of my cheeks.
"Hey now, you're still crying, we have a deal okay?" He whispered before nodding his head towards the path in front of us, "Come on, lets take a quick detour."
After many minutes of walking through the dark, Luca lead me towards the back kitchen door. It was a massive kitchen with six different fridges and freezers. Everything was neatly placed and it looked absolutely spotless. Like spotless to the point where if I wanted to, I could probably see my own reflection through one of the pots.
I watched as he pulled out a stool from under one of the silver benches, offerring it to me before making his way to one of the freezers leaning against the marble wall.
"What flavour do you like? We have almost every flavour here, but none of the men here have a sweet tooth so its mostly left untouched." He looked over at me, his dimple clearly visible behind his soft smile.
"My favourite is Mint Choc Chip." I replied back, my voice sounding softer than ever. I looked down at my hands to see that they were both shaking still. At the sight of my hands, my mind raced back to the interogation room just moments ago. My heart started to beat faster and faster, as if my airways were closing in, my vision blurring once more.
"Mint? No one lik-"
"Actually Luca, can I please go back to room?" I cut him off quickly, taking him off guard. "I don't want ice cream anymore." I practically whispered the last part, looking at him sadly.
I just wanted to go home.
"Alright Piccolo, i'll take you to your room. Come on." I watched as he closed the double doors of the freezer and followed slowly towards the direction he was gesturing me to. My eyes scanned the contents of the building as I trudged behind him.
