bitter harvest

today, i made my decision on whether i should pursue my career in medical, or continuing working on the guard. of course, it was a troubling decision to make, but i think that i made the right one.

i'm on my way to meet kane, he said that octavia has been in contact. i open the door, subtly, and walk in. i hear octavia's voice as i near kane, "Pike's detail is still at it. soil and water samples."

"any idea what they're up to?"

"no, but considering how heavily they're armed, i dont think they want anyone to find out." o goes quiet for a minute, "crap"

"what is it?" kane asks with concern.

"There's a grounder kid. hang on"

she goes quiet for a few moments and i begin to pace wuth stress. "octavia. please respond." kane speaks into the radio.

octavia once again, doesn't answer. my anxiety increases. i can only pray that o is a good enough fighter to protect herself. "They're going after the kid. I'm trying to cut them off." Octavia responds, and i sit down across from Kane.

it again goes silent, and me and Kane wait patiently. "Kane?" Octavia's raspy voice comes through, "We're here. You okay?"

"I need to talk to Artemus, right now."

Kane doesn't hesitate to hand me the radio, "O? O, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, art. Listen to me. You need to find out what he is up to. Whatever it is, he was willing to kill a kid to keep it quiet."

"We got it. You stay safe. I love you."

"I love you too."

She goes quiet again, and i hand the radio back to Kane, "i need to talk to abby." i say as i stand up.

i walk down the hall and out of the quarters. i quickly enter the medical doors, and see Abby examining Raven. "Hey, Art." Raven smiles at me.

"Hi, raven."

Abby grabs Ravens face, and shines a light into her eyes, checking her pupils. "Pupils aren't dilated." Abby hands me her clipboard and pen, and i take notes, as she requested.

Raven chuckles, "Jaha gave me the key to the city of light, guys, not drugs."

"Yeah, lets see what the blood tests say."

"i thought you would be happy for me."

"We are. It's just unusual for pain to subside this quickly." i say, reading over the notes on ravens chart.

raventands up, "So, am i all clear?"

abby nods, "apparently."

i tune out Abby scolding Raven and set her chart down. Raven leaves medical.

"Hey, uh, abby can we talk?"

she looks at her watch, "sure, i have a few minutes."

"i want to be a doctor abby, but i need my job on the guard, so im just gonna keep my schedule."

"So you would continue to work different jobs on different shifts?"

"exactly."

"can you handle that?"

"i think so."

"alright, but if i find out your drinking again, or not coming to work, im gonna do the same thing i did to raven to you."

"okay," i chuckle slightly. "Well, I have to go, i wanna find jasper before my shift starts."

i leave medical, and find my way to the rec room. there, i find jasper staring at Jaha's "lab rats". honestly, the city of light kinda freaks me out, like how exactly does it work? i walk up to my boyfriend, "they seem pretty happy." he says nonchalant.
