Hailey's POV

Jay and I immediately made our way from the lab to the autopsy.

"Jimmy, Hails needs an ultrasound."
He turned to Jay and me after hearing Jay's voice. "So you guys are having a baby?" I nodded and Jimmy immediately took us both in his arms. "Congratulations you two. A baby is something great and it's going to be a special time coming your way. I can still remember when Breena was pregnant with Victoria,it was just a magical time and then when this little person came out of her."
"Thanks but Jimmy please stop talking so much and do the ultrasound. I can't really imagine a little person coming out of my wife yet and I don't want to imagine it either" said Jay scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment.

I guess he really didn't like that thought yet and I was scared too thinking about the birth but luckily it's still some time away.
"A birth is something great Jay, you will look at your wife afterwards with other eyes" said Jimmy and fetched the ultrasound machine.

I laid down on one of the tables where normally the bodies were but my god I shouldn't complain because I was the one who wanted an ultrasound right away and didn't want to wait until I got an appointment with my gynecologist. Jimmy is the only one we know who has an ultrasound machine.

Jay put his jacket under my head so I was more comfortable and then stood next to me.
I pulled up my top and Jimmy spread a cold gel on my belly, I was startled for a moment as he did this without warning.

"Sorry, normally my patients don't feel cold but they usually don't have a heartbeat either." Jimmy ran the ultrasound probe over my abdomen,Jay held my hand and we stared at the screen.
"Is that it?" I asked pointing to something small that was visible on the ultrasound.
"Yes that's your baby" Jimmy said smiling and turned on the sound on the ultrasound machine and you could hear a murmur. "It has a strong heartbeat and you are 10 weeks pregnant Hailey. Everything looks normal and healthy."
I smiled and got tears in my eyes again with joy. I wasn't usually this emotional but it must be the hormones.

Jay continued to stare at the screen "Jimmy,is it really normal that it looks like a peanut with little arms?"

Jimmy and I had to laugh when Jay said that. "Yes Jay it is normal for babies to look like a peanut with arms at that time. After all, it has to really develop into a baby first which takes time. After all, in the beginning it was just an egg and a sperm which after 9 months is a really developed little human being when it comes into the world. At the next ultrasound the peanut will slowly have legs and maybe then we also can tell what gender your peanut is."

"I hope for your sake it's really a human being and not a peanut that's emerging." I slapped Jay lightly on the chest "Don't talk about our child like that."
"Hailey I love you and our peanut. After all, it's more of a peanut than a child so far. You probably shouldn't have ordered the peanut sauce at the Chinese place so much lately." Jay said laughing as he helped me wipe my belly of the gel with tissues.
I stood up and straightened my shirt. "I shouldn't have done something with you 10 weeks ago that put that peanut in my belly." I said and grinned cheekily at him.

Jay picked up his jacket and had to grin. "You're lucky to have me and be able to do stuff like that with me."

"I am and now you'll never get rid of me either. After all, it's not just the rings anymore that connect us but the peanut in my belly will connect us even more. And that peanut is getting hungry."
We thanked Jimmy and left the autopsy.

Jay and I went up to the office. I looked briefly at Gibbs and he immediately understood.
He came over to us. "What did Abby and Jimmy say?" "I'm 10 weeks pregnant and everything looks normal."
Gibbs smiled broadly and gave me a hug. He then turned to Jay and looked at him sternly. "You will treat your wife like a queen during this time and grant her every wish, otherwise you will have to deal with me,got it?!" "Yes got it boss. I will grant her every wish."
Gibbs then took Jay in his arms as well. "Congratulations. You two are off for the day and Hailey you are on inside duty till the baby arrives."
I nodded and then walked home with Jay.
On the way we picked up a pizza because I was really hungry.

When we got home, we ate the pizza and then sat down in the living room. "Jay?"
"Yes, babe?" "Are you mad because I'm pregnant?" He looked at me confused, probably because he didn't understand where I got that idea.
"No, I could never be mad at you for something like that, Hailey. We never really talked about having kids because we were so busy with work and everything. And to be honest, I never thought I wanted kids, but since I've known you, a lot of things have changed, including my attitude towards kids and having a family of my own. I've even been imagining a lot lately what it would be like to have a family of my own with you."
I nodded in relief and sat on his lap and he put his arms around my waist. "I always wanted a big family. One better than the one I grew up in but I always thought I would never find the right man for it but you are the right man for me to have a family with. You will be the perfect father for our peanut."
I took his hand and placed it on my belly as I said this.
"And you are the perfect woman for me and will be a wonderful mother to our peanut and all the other little peanuts we will have." Jay kissed me soulfully after he said that and I returned the kiss.

"You promised Gibbs you would grant my every wish, didn't you?"
"Yes and I will, why?"
"Remember that amazing chocolate cake we had with Ellie and Nick last week?"
"Yeah sure that was across town and we waited in line for over an hour for that cake because Ellie and you really just wanted that cake. But let me guess the peanut is hungry for that cake right now?"
"Yeah the pizza didn't fill us up and we still need a piece of chocolate cake and some tomatoes. I don't know why tomatoes but it's craving tomatoes too."
Jay sat me down next to him and stood up. "Okay I'll be back as soon as I can." He put on his jacket and then headed out.

After 3 hours the door finally opened again and Jay came back in with some shopping bags. I stood up and walked over to him. "Well this is a little more than chocolate cake and tomatoes. What else did you buy?"
Jay handed me the tomatoes and two pieces of chocolate cake first. "The most important thing is for you and the peanut to eat first. I got you two pieces." "Thank you you are the best" I said grinning and started eating. "This really is the best chocolate cake. You made peanut and I very happy with it."

Jay unpacked the other shopping bags. "I saw a store for kids and there were some really cute things I had to buy for our peanut." He said and showed me a little teddy bear,a blanket that said 'mommy and daddy's little darling' and a biker leather jacket.
"We will have the coolest peanut of all with this leather jacket."
"Yes we will with this jacket but our peanut can't put it on until she or he is a year old. It's way too big."

Jay shook his head in disbelief. "No what are you talking about. It's not too big, it's totally small and it's got a 1 in it so it's the first size for babies so Peanut can wear it right away."
"The 1 stands for 1 year and not first size. But sweet that you are already in baby fever and start buying things for our peanut." I said laughing and gave him a kiss. "I bet you didn't find the smaller stuff. There are always the months in there so for example 0-3 months is what peanut can wear immediately after birth in the first 3 months."
"I saw smaller clothes..." Jay tried to explain himself and raised his finger but then didn't speak further.
"Then why didn't you get those?"
"I thought they were doll clothes and not baby clothes because they were so small." "Jay our baby is going to be really small when it comes into the world. Have you ever seen a baby before?"
"Of course I've seen a baby before. We know McGee's twins and they are babies."
"Johnny and Morgan are almost 3 years old. They are already toddlers and not babies anymore. In the beginning, a newborn is just about 50cm tall."
"Well, that's smaller than small. I think McGee's twins are already small!" said Jay in surprise.

"Never say that to a woman who has to squeeze something like that through an even smaller hole to bring it into the world." Jay immediately looked at me and you could tell he was probably imagining what it would be like to push a baby through such a small hole and he just let out an ouch.

"Are you scared of giving birth?" he asked me then. "I think everyone is scared of giving birth but it's going to take some time till then and it doesn't help me if I'm already panicking about it and just worrying about it. But I think that any injury I've already experienced in police service will hurt less than giving birth." "When the time comes, I will be with you all the time and take away your fear and pain as much as I can."
