Chapter 17

The school bell rang, informing everyone that classes were over.

Xiao Qing went out of her classroom together with her friends. They were heading towards the school gate as they casually talked about a movie they planned to watch together, but before they reached there, Xiao Qing saw Wang YiBo standing by the gate.

Like a regular teen, Xiao Qing's friends blushed at the sight of a handsome man, some nudging her with their elbows and some tugging her uniform blouse.

"Can you come with me? I'll take you home."

Restrained squeals surrounded them but both Xiao Qing and Wang YiBo had ignored it.

"Okay." Xiao Qing just turned her head to her friends and just said, "I'll go ahead."

Her friends nodded and stretched their necks long as they curiously stared at Xiao Qing getting inside Wang YiBo's car and drove away.

As they went on the way, no one talked until after a few minutes had passed.

"I'm not the type to beat around the bush so I want you to know that I'm serious with your dad." Wang YiBo spoke first, breaking the silence. "It's okay if you don't want the two of us to be friends but I think we need to at least get along to make things work."

"I want to be with your dad and your dad wants to be with me too. He will really be happy if you let us. I don't want to make him feel like he needs to choose between us."

Xiao Qing nodded, she seemed to agree. "You're right, so sure."

Wang YiBo glanced at Xiao Qing. 'That was fast, huh?'

Xiao Qing paused before she spoke again, "But have you told papa about it?"

Wang YiBo's eyebrow twitched. "..."

Xiao Qing turned her head to Wang YiBo, "Have you told papa that I like you?"

"..."

The silence seemed to drag for a long time before Xiao Qing turned her back to the window. "So you haven't, huh?"

Wang YiBo sighed. "You haven't either."

"None of us could. I mean, who would have thought that the guy I like is in love with my own papa? My papa even feels the same for you. Isn't it ridiculous that both father and daughter like the same person?"

Wang YiBo sighed again, even more heavily.

"I bet you were shocked too, but I think I was more shocked about it when I found out about you and papa. It was hard for me to accept that the guy I like has things already going on with my papa."

Wang YiBo quickly responded. "Let me make things clear. Your dad and I waited for the right time. Nothing happened between us during those days."

Xiao Qing chuckled, which seemed more like a sneer. "Well it doesn't matter anymore. It's not like there has been an actual love between mama and papa."

Wang YiBo wasn't sure how much Xiao Qing knew so he just said, "Of course it matters. No dad would want their child to think negatively about them."

"My family was breaking apart and then I later discovered that the guy I like is somehow related to it. Can you blame me for it?"

"No, but..."

"It's already okay." Xiao Qing didn't let Wang YiBo continue. "I don't think that way anymore. I've already accepted you guys for quite some time now or else, I wouldn't have tried to help and treated you nicely. Though I'm still upset that I didn't stand a chance."

'I don't like kids and I'm 100% into guys only.' Wang YiBo almost blurted that out but he held his tongue thinking that it wouldn't be good to be too blunt to a kid with a broken heart. "I'm really sorry, but I don't want anyone else but your dad."
