!Hey, dear. We're here!!, my mom called from the living room. As much as I wanted to I couldn't just ignore them.
"Hello.", I dryly greeted Karin and two others.
"Don't you want to sit with us for a few minutes?", one of them asked.
"I am a bit busy."
"Just five minutes."
"Fine.", I sat down.
After a few weird looks and useless small talk, they changed the topic.
"Have I told you that my car and garden is ruined by those shitty birds?", Karin started.
I immediately wondered if it could've been Mort's but he keeps his inside, he would never let them outside alone.
"Talking about bird poo, why do you smell so bad?", my mom asked.
"Had a little accident. Some birds are very hungry."
"Ah, yeah. Or did your weird little friend have something to do with it?"
"No, why should he?"
"Don't know, you could tell me what's going on in your little psychopath's head."
"What is going on?", one of the others asked.
"Oh, you haven't heard he's dating the McAdams weirdo."
"Oh, no. That poor boy."
"I am still here and stop talking about him like he's dangerous."
"He is dangerous until you prove us wrong."
"That's ridiculous, I'm out.", I left and still heard them talk about him.
I went back to his house, I wanted to be sure he doesn't have anything to do with it.
"Again?", he opened the door.
"Karin and her friends are over. But just one question."
"Tell me."
"Do you ever let your doves out? Like here in the street."
"No, I won't risk getting them hurt, why?"
"Because they said birds ruin their cars and gardens and asked me if you had something to do with it."
"You got smarter I see, you're asking before blaming me."
"Yeah."
"I can assure you; my birds never leave this house."
"Another question. Could you get a phone please? I don't want to walk over all the time."
"No, I don't trust those things and never will. Also, some sport wouldn't hurt you."
"Ey!", but he just shrugged with a smile.
I nodded at him and left. At home I took a shower, because this smell was terrible.
I wanted to put a new shirt in as my mom came in.
"Hey, want to tell me why you smell like....OH MY GOD!", she froze and looked down realizing I still had a letter carved in my chest.
"What is that?!"
"Erm.a new tattoo style."
"Stop lying this is clearly a scar.", she turned me around to find more.
"Did he do that?! Did he hurt you?"
"No, he didn't."
"But he did that to you?!
"Even if he did, why does it matter?"
"He hurt you, it won't go away, it's there forever! Karin was right he is dangerous."
"Stop it! He didn't hurt me!"
"We need to go to the police! He can't get away with that!"
"Mom! I allowed him to do it!"
"What?! That's even worse, he must've drugged you!"
"He didn't drug me."
"You're talking nonsense. He's got into your mind."
"Mom! Leave me alone! Dammit! He is a normal man; he is not dangerous!"
"Fine, but don't come to me crying if it gone wrong.is that a feather on your shirt?"
"Maybe, I said I got attacked by birds."
"Does he have birds?"
"No."
"You're lying Lizzy heard you earlier, you went to his house again."
"Fine he has doves, but keeps them inside, always. He wouldn't let them out under any circumstances, he loves them way too much."
"Really. Okay, then, maybe I overreacted. If you're happy fine but be careful."
"I am."
I instantly regretted telling her, but someone would've find out anyway. It was weird, she was suddenly calm. I decided to tell him about it the next day at university. But we soon found out it was too late.
