Oikawa
The question even sounded idiotic in my head, but I covered up my awkwardness with a cheeky grin. I couldn't let her see that I was undoubtedly scared of asking for her name. Yeah, sure, she was quite cute, but the fact that I hesitated just felt a bit weird, even for me. I never took time to go over something in my head, the only exception was volleyball.
But here, it felt as though the question I had asked was articulated and thought through, which was something I tended not to do. That was bothering me quite a lot, but I sucked it up. Instead of wallowing in my own mind, I stared down at the female a few feet before me, not knowing what to expect.
But as she stood frozen for a few seconds, her lips parted each other for a mere instant.
"Wow, you really are an idiot."
I clutched my chest with pain, my ego being crushed by a large and heavy boulder with her harsh words. Man, was this girl mean! Probably just as mean as Iwa, and that wasn't a good sign at all.
I scoffed, and shoved my hands in my jacket's pockets. "Well that's not very nice," I pouted, pressing my lips together with a small "hmph."
All she did was laugh, which seemed to crack a smile onto my lips. Now that I got a good look at her, she really was attractive. Sometimes I wonder why I hadn't noticed her before, but then again, I never pay attention to a lot of the things around me. This was one of those times where I sincerely regretted it.
She had long and voluminous chestnut locks, which had a certain glow to them as the sun hit her hair. She also seemed to keep it in a ponytail or different styles much more than ever having it down. And that just made me even more curious to see what she looked like without her hair done up.
She also had beautiful pupils the colour of glistening emeralds, and unreal clear skin. Either she had makeup on, or she just didn't get any acne at all. I know I did, but it faded away quite a lot over the years. And trust me, that wasn't a fun time at all. The amount of red dots on my skin was embarrassing, and it was a miracle that I even attracted girls with my face looking like that.
I realized soon enough that I was staring at her a little too long, and she sent a smirk in my direction. I didn't dare peel my eyes away, and watched as she turned back around. She was obviously contemplating something right there, so I waited patiently, an eyebrow raised and a smile on my cocky face.
She let out a small chuckle, and turned her body halfway to meet my eyes in an interlock.
"Kaori Kamiya. That's my name, you jerk."
I was still in place as she softly spoke those words, clearly not very happy giving up her credentials. However, I'm embarrassed to say that I was relieved. I could get used to calling her pet names, but I was completely sure that she would slap me. Well, I was just guessing, but she gave me the same vibes that Iwa did, so I didn't want to travel down that treacherous road. No way jose.
As she turned back around, I was still stuck in limbo, a dumb grin plastered on my face.
"You coming?" She asked, and I quickly jogged after her.
"Of course," I answered with a coy tone, making her giggle.
"You're so weird, you know that?" She laughed, and I walked by her side.
"Hm, how so?" I asked with inquisition, looking down at her.
She paused for a second, and then lifted her hand with all five fingers up.
"Well for starters, you're a playboy. Two, you obsess over volleyball like it's a religion. Three, you were too chicken to ask for my name in the beginning. Though, you overcame that. Four, you seem like the type to ditch all work for one thing, this case being volleyball. And five, you're a dumbass."
