~Hiro sat at one end of the table, Yanemi at the other.
"Alright. Come on in." Yanemi spoke.
As soon as the little girl entered the room, Hiro knew what had happened. Those eyes the little girl had, they were very familiar. He had seen them so many times.
After all, they were his own.
His mind shattered.
"This is your father." Yanemi revealed.
The little girl gasped.
"He's been away for some time due to an incident, but he's finally returned!" Yanemi smiled. Something caught her attention. "I'll give you two a moment to think."
Hiro couldn't think. His mind was in shambles.
"Dad!" The little girl rushed over, running to him. She stood in front of him, looking at him with excited eyes. "I thought I'd never get to see you!"
"Oh..." Hiro looked down at her.
So innocent.
"Could you tell me your name?" He softly asked. "An accident happened...and I'm having trouble remembering."
"It's Yashi!" She told him. "You'll remember now? Right?"
"Of course." Hiro replied. "Come here."
She jumped up onto his lap, to where he hugged her tightly. She hugged him back, smiling as she finally was able to meet her father. She had wanted to for a long time.
Hiro held onto the girl, tears starting to drip from his eyes. He held onto her tight, hundreds of thoughts and emotions flooding through his head.
Yanemi returned to the scene, looking at it with a smile.
Hiro swore he wouldn't let his daughter turn out like her mother. Even if it led to Yanemi's death.
No.
It would lead to her death.
He was going to end this nightmare.
. . .
Hana wondered if it was a good idea to let the girl come into her apartment. But she couldn't exactly just leave an afraid, crying girl alone. Who knows what could have happened to her.
Maybe she escaped a kidnapping, an abusive relationship, or something else. Hana didn't quite know, but she couldn't just turn a blind eye when there was such a pure face of terror and distraught in the girl's eyes.
If she didn't help, she probably would have regretted it.
But she was also feeling a little uneasy from having a stranger now in her apartment, who was currently taking a bath. It had been a while, and Hana wasn't too surprised. After whatever that girl had been through, she needed some time to recuperate.
Wait! What if leaving her alone was a bad idea?!
Hana jumped up, walked to her bathroom door and knocked on it. "Are you alright?" She asked through the door.
