The November full moon went like every other full moon.
James, Sirius and Peter changed back to themselves from their animagus forms while Remus rested against the wall of the Shrieking Shack. Sirius lent the two-way mirror to him and got under James's cloak to leave the place before Madam Pomfrey came to accompany Remus to the castle.
"Any other new scars that require my attention, dear?" Madam Pomfrey asked from behind the curtains as Remus slid the sweater down to his body. The boy glanced at the cut on his wrist but thought of it as unimportant.
"I'm all good," he appeared from behind the privacy screen and smiled at the matron.
His body felt sore after the last night, so he planned on sleeping a bit more in his dorm to rest, even though he had already been sleeping for three hours. It was early morning, meaning James and Sirius ought to be in the Quidditch practice and probably had Peter as an audience. He would be all by himself in the room, a perfect opportunity for a perfect sleep.
"See you later, Madam Pomfrey."
"Don't wear yourself out, Remus!" she called after him as he left the hospital wing.
He was relieved to see nobody being in the wing. Some days, one or two injured students would be sleeping in the beds, making Remus walk silently and swiftly, not to be seen. He was lucky enough not to get any attention from his monthly visits to Madam Pomfrey yet, and he intended to keep it that way.
Though, that doesn't mean he was never seen. Occasionally some hard-working students would be up at eight in the morning, wandering around the castle, or a Gryffindor would be up in the common room studying.
So far, Remus had managed to shrug off any familiar face questioning his whereabouts the day after the full moon, whether by telling them he wasn't feeling well or the Marauders had accidentally harmed him during a prank.
Needless to say, everyone had always believed his words.
Remus had already established a reputation for a weak immune system, and his friends were too wild not to harm each other. Sometimes it wouldn't even be a lie; the boy would have a bruise somewhere on his body merely for the day before James and Sirius had decided to start a wrestling fight and include him too.
After lingering on the moving stairs and enjoying the quiet around the castle, Remus entered his common room. Just like he guessed, everyone was in a deep sleep, not a single soul awake. Who would wake up that early on a Saturday morning except for James Potter, the Quidditch maniac?
On his way to the dorm room, he stopped his track before the sofa, examining its spread-out books. Most of his housemates were disorganised; he had been aware of that since his first year in the school. Books, quills, notes, and even wands would be scattered around the whole common room, creating an unbearable view for his eyes. Remus didn't indulge in untidiness. He just sommer had to be able to find what he was looking for effortlessly, or he would lose his temper.
Taking one of the books in his hand, he read the title to see that it wasn't a textbook; it was a wizard's literature book with a red hardcover. Remus remembered Aurora's book under his bed. He should start reading it sometime.
Just when he put the book back in its place and headed for his dorm, his ears perked up to the steps on the other corner of the room. He turned to face with a certain girl who he had shaken hands two days ago.
"Morning, Martin."
Remus and Aurora didn't have the opportunity to sit and come up with a plan yet, primarily because of Remus's edginess before the full moon.
