Chapter Twenty

Five and a half hours thats how long we have been sitting in this waiting room to hear anything back about Luci. As I was standing up ready to start asking for answers on Luci a Doctor walked in.
"Family of Ms. Luciana Perez."
"That's us." We all say at once.
"I'm Dr. Angela Walker I wanted to update you on Ms. perez condition. So she came in unconcious with a very large head laceration, multiple cuts, along with a few large bruises, her left arm is broken aswell as her left femur right above her knee, and she has a brain bleed which caused pressure to build and push against the brain. We performed a craniotomy. She currently has a monitor in her skull that is used to remove excess blood or fluid this device will also monitor pressure inside her skull. We will know the full extent of the damage this bleed caused when she wakes up."
I hear the girls gasp out muffled sobs. I also hear Andrew and Javier's breathing hitch at the end of the doctors update.
"Can we see her?" I ask
"Yes I'll have a nurse escort you to her room.
"Thanks Dr. Walker" I speak out she nods her head and walks out. I look to Javier.
"What are we gonna tell Matteo. Hes gonna have a rough next few days." I say softly
"I don't know what to say or what to do." Javier sighs out as he sits collapses into the chair placing his head in his hands.
"I wish I was meeting you all under different circumstances but I'm Elias Luciana's boyfriend. I made sure to get her the best room available. I called Silviano earlier and he said that Teo was doing great but kept asking for his mom. He is going to bring him first thing in the morning. I am going to be staying here over night but I would love for one of you to be here in the morning when Matteo comes with Silviano."
"I will be here" Javier says.
I nodded my head in return.

"I'm Sophia and this is my Husband Andrew." She sobs out.
"Do you know what happened?" She asked
"So far the only information I have for you was that this was a hit and run. I promise that whoever did this will pay for what they have done."
She turns into her husbands side and continues to sob.
"Mommy!? what wong?" Sophias son asks confused. Andrew grabs their son's hand while bending to his height.
"Well Munchkin mommy is sad because auntie Lulu got hurt really really bad."
"Oh. Mommy you needs a kissy to makes you fee betew?" he asked concerned.
"Yes baby boy." she said as she bent over the best she could with her baby bump.

I then started to pace the room while we wait for this damn nurse to show up to escort us to Lucianas room. I paced for a good 20 minutes when I heard the door open.
"

Ms. Perez's family please follow me." she escorted us toi the elevator taking us up to the 12th floor where the V.I.P (in other words the expensive rooms) patient rooms we follow her out of the elevator paging the nurse station through the com system. Once they buzzed the door we followed her for another 100 feet before we got to her room.
"This is Ms. Perez's room when you guys come and go through the doors just tell the nurse 4182 Perez and she will allow you in." she states and walks away.
As I reach out for the door handle my phone rings. I look down to see its Alejandro. I silently curse.
"You guys go ahead I have to take this call I'll be in shortly." I say as I step away clicking answer.

JAVIER'S POV

I watched my sister's boyfriend walk away to answer his call as I reached out and grab the door handle. I shakily open the door knowing what I am about to see is going to break me. I've been trying all evening to keep my shit together and I'm hanging by a thread. I shook out of my thoughts once the door clicked signaling that I've opened it. I pushed the door open and I can tell you I was not prepared to see my little sister like that. I choked out a loud sob and quickly made it to her bed grabbing on to her good hand.
"Fuck Luc. You have to wake up and be okay I can't lose you like we lost mom and dad. Matteo needs you. Please be okay please please please." I sobbed out. I make my way to my wife hugging her as the room filled with everyones sobs.

After the sobs died down I looked down at my watch seeing the time says its past midnight. When I look around the room the kids and our wives were asleep. I look to Drew across the room.
"Why don't we all head home to get these women and the children into bed and come back tomorrow morning its getting pretty late."
"Sounds fine to me man. I stood up stretching my limbs once I finished and made my way to Luci. I bent down and kissed the top of her head.
"I love you Luc I gotta get my little one and the wifey home into bed. we will see you tomorrow." I make my way to the wife gently waking her then picking up my little girl off her lap.
"Come on babe lets get you home and into bed. we will be back tomorrow." We start walking out of the room. When I come out I see my sister's boyfriend still on his phone call.
"We will be back tomorrow man I have to get them home and into bed. Call me if anything changes with her condition."
"Hold for a second"  he say into the phone then looks to me
" Of course man I completely understand go ahead and get them home. Luci would be upset if you had them here any longer. You will be my first call if anything changes." he says.
"Thank you for getting to her when you did."
"There is no need to thank me I would do it 100 times over. ."
I smile softly and nod "see yo tomorrow man."
"See you guys tomorrow Javier."
We all made it to the cars and headed of to my house cause I know the wives are going to be inseparable until Luci is better.
