chapter 10

Chapter 10 (first pov)

Julian's POV:

I was walking to math class alone, thinking about what to say to the Algebros. Since me and Dana skipped class yesterday, we made a plan to what we would do: Dana would still pretend to help Kassy and try to get evidence while I would also try to find evidence. It probably wouldn't be hard, after all I'm the most popular boy in the 5th Grade, I could get some dirt on her. Now I need to think about what to tell the group..

I sit down at my usual seat at our table and immediately notice the looks on both Rocco and Atticus' faces: they look miserable. Like really depressed.

"Hey guys, what's up with you?" Mikey finally asks. Atticus sighs and replys, "Kassy was bullying us in the hallway again."

"It's so unfair," continues Rocco, "why does she always pick fights with us because we're in love with each other?!" I used to be jealous of Rocco, mainly because I thought he was going to steal Dana from me, but now he's probably one of my best friends.

Looking over at Kassy's seat, I notice something: it's empty. Weird. Rocco and Atticus said she was bullying them in the hallway, meaning she's in school...skipping class?? No way. Kassy Jones would never skip class. Maybe she went home sick or something.

Realising this is my perfect chance to tell the Alegbros our plan, I say, "I know guys. That must suck. But me and Dana have a plan which will make sure that Kassy and her minions never bother us again." Everyone looks interested so I tell them about everything.

At the end, everyone looks excited. "We should meet at the back of the school after classes to discuss what we should do first!" Matthew suggests. We all agree and I sneak my phone to send Dana a text.

'meet me and the alegbros at the back of the school at 3pm xx ❤️'

It's not long until I get a reply:

'ok ily jules 💓💓'

I smile and blush at the screen. Dana is usually a quiet and sort of negative person, so hearing an I love you from her means a lot.

At the end of school:

Me and Dana meet in the corridor after our last classes. We greet each other then make our way to the back of the school, holding hands. God I love her so much!! Finally we reach the alegbros and they look at us.

"Ooooo! Lovebirds!!" Mikey teases. "Shut up!" I hiss at him, my face red. Then we all begin discussing our ideas.

"Maybe we could try to become friends with Kassy?" Atticus suggests.

"No, are you dumb? She practically hates us." I respond.

"Wait guys, I know someone who could help us!" Matthew pipes in. We all turn to look at him, interested.

"Who?"

"Someone called Artemis." chapter 10 (2nd pov)

Dana's POV:

Now me and the algebros were making our way to this person Artemis' house. I had to admit, I was a bit suspicious, would Matthew be leading us to some creep's house where we would be brutally murdered?

"So Matthew, who is this Artemis?" Julian finally asked. "Oh, just a friend of mine. Don't worry, they're around our age, they just go to a different school."

Eventually we stop in front of a house and Matthew rings the doorbell. But whoever answered...wasn't a 5th Grader. Instead, a tall girl with tan skin, frizzy strawberry blonde hair, brown eyes and lots of freckles answered. She looked more like an 9th Grader than anything.

The girl looked at Matthew like she knew him. "Oh hey Matthew, what brings you here?" Then she glanced at us. "And who's your friends?"

"Hey Noelle. And it's nothing important. Look, we really need to speak to Artemis, are they home?"

"No."

"Well, where are they?"

"I don't know. Probably out with their friends doing weird shit. Anyways, why do you wanna speak to them. You look...troubled." Noelle asked, now leaning against the doorframe.

"We need their help. Could you help us find them?"

"Sure! Okay, I'll help you. Just let me get dressed, I'm not going out looking like..this." She said before rushing back into the house and closing the door behind her.

We all stood in silence for a few seconds before Atticus questioned: "Who's that? That's definitely not a 5th Grader." "Oh, that's Noelle, Artemis' older sister." explained Matthew. "She also goes to a different high school than our local one."

Finally after a few minutes Noelle returned, wearing a different outfit. "Ok, I'm ready to go now." She locked the house door before leading us somewhere. "Let's head to the mall, it's the most popular space for people to hang out." We walked silently for a while while Noelle kept trying to fix her hair for the millionth time. It was odd.

"Hey, why does she keep doing that? Do high schoolers really care about their appearance that much?" I whispered to Matthew. "I'm not sure really. Something happened when she was a kid. Made her all insecure and stuff." He whispered back to me.

"What happened?"

"I don't know. Artemis never brought it up again."

Finally we reached the mall and walked inside. Suddenly, anxiety hit me like a brick. What if Kassy and her gang were here? I didn't want to face them right now.

Immediately we made a plan. "Okay, we're gonna go with Noelle to see if Artemis is here. Dana, can you stay here in case Kassy shows up? You're probably the person she could stand the most to talk to." Mikey said. I agreed and the group headed off while I stayed on lookout.

Then I noticed Leslie and Raelynn, but Kassy was no where to be seen..strange. They were laughing and joking, but when they noticed me, their faces turned sad. Then, they approached me.

"Oh hey Dana! What a surprise to see you here..." Leslie awkwardly greeted. "Yeah, totally.." Raelynn continued. I stared at them. "Guys what's up, you're acting strangely." They both sighed deeply.

"Long story short, we're not friends with Kassy anymore. She's just been an asshole to you and your friends, among other things. She even shit talked you behind your back." explained Raelynn.

"Wait really?!" I gasped, pretending to be shocked, even though I already knew that. "Yeah, we're so sorry.." Leslie apologized. "It's fine, I'm just glad you guys have common sense." I replied and we all hugged. I really was happy that Leslie and Raelynn finally realised how terrible Kassy was.

Just then, the Alegbros returned along with Noelle, seemingly without Artemis. "Hey Dana- What are you doing with them?" Julian raised an eyebrow. "Don't worry guys, they're good people, they aren't friends with Kassy anymore." I said.

Noelle's voice suddenly rang out, "There they are!" She then called towards someone with dark purple hair and brown eyes. "HEY ARTEMIS! GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE YOUR FRIENDS ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!" The person with dark purple hair then went over to us. "What are you doing here Noelle? Surprised you're not with your group of friends. After all, it looks like you don't come seperately." Noelle rolled her eyes and replied: "You know Darcy goes to after school clubs today, Eliza is on a trip with her parents to Korea and Val is probably studying. Also, Matthew is here."

"Oh hey Matthew, who are these people?" Artemis asked. He introduced us one by one then said, "We need your help."

"Why don't you ask Noelle to help you? After all she does co-own a detective club at her school."

"Good point. But we came all this way to find you...let me tell you everything first." Then we informed them about our situation.

"Okay fine I'll help you." Artemis agreed. "But Noelle and her gang will probably have to help us too, they're good at that kind of thing."

"Sure, now we just need more evidence. We don't have much so far." Rocco said. "Leslie and Raelynn could give some info, after all they were friends with Kassy the longest." I suggested. I looked at them.

Then everyone gathered round as they informed us of every bad thing Kassy has ever said or done..
