It was the beginning of a long 12 hour flight to Pakistan. I have seated in the aisle beside women and the rest of my family was ahead of me seated together. I relax my head back against the seat and take a look out the window.
Amir had texted me to text him when I would arrive but there was no other conversation we had. I was just lost in thoughts to even be focused on what was going on. I hate long flights all I will be doing is recalling my worst memories.
I had kept myself up all night so I would be able to sleep during the flight but for now I didn't feel sleepy at all. The women beside me look young maybe around her mid 20s, she had a scarf loosly tied around her head and had a child seated next to the window.
"You traveling alone?"
"No I am with family they're seated in front, you?" I answer her. She nods with a smile looking over at her son I presume.
"I am with my son, visiting my in-laws" I smile faintly and close my eyes.
An hour roughly goes by and we were served food and quiet shockingly the women son was very quiet on his seat playing games on his Ipad.
"My names Sana, whats yours?" I look over at her with a spoon in my hand ready to take a bite of my food.
"Ayah, it nice to meet you" I say quietly taking a bit of my chicken.
"So your going back to visit family?" Sana asked taking a sip of her coke while.
"I'm getting married" I try to plaster a smile at her
"Oh congratulations, that's exciting" She seemed more excited then I could be. I take a deep breath and nood at her.
"You're not happy... why?" Sana had put her food aside at this point.
No one wants me that's why....
"It's just overwhelming you know, the whole move and all" She smirked and shook her head at me.
"Its a challenge but we all make it through don't worry you'll be happy"
These words were something, everyone use to say and it just wasn't soothing anymore to me. Sana and I spoke for a bit till her son started becoming moody as he was already bored of playing on the Ipad.
I tried sleeping but became anxious, I was falling into depression slowly I felt it, I have gone into depression to many times to not know what was going on with me.
I took a melatonin pill to help me sleep to took what felt to me hours to kick in. I had woken up to Sana shaking me.
"We have landed, you have been sleeping all the way through" Sana exclaimed. I smiled and nodded.
"It was nice meeting you!" I told her as I was about to get up from my seat
"Take my number, if you want to meet in Karachi at any time let me know, or if you visit Canada ever"
"I would love to stay in contact" I took Sanas number and headed out of the plane behind my parents.
After grabbing the luggage we headed out to be greeted my dad friend and my uncle (Mom's side)
"ASALAMULIKUM" My uncle said loudly as he gave us all a hug.
"Walikumsallam" I muttered. I didn't say much and let everyone speak amongst themselves. On the way to my dad's friends house my parents called Amir's parents to let them know we landed.
"So Ayah, how do you feel?" My uncle asked.
"Alhumdulliah" I said with a suppressed smile.
The wedding was in 4 days and there was a lot still left to do.
