10 | heat of the moon

Aerin thought she would have been used to Jungkook's driving. Obviously he's a good driver but oh lord, the speed, especially right now that he's driving through the very curved roads up a mountain on the outskirts of the city to take her somewhere interesting. It had her blood pumping and the grip he had on her thigh only made her heart race even more.

"So are you going to tell me where we're going yet?" She asked over the loud music but all Jungkook did was rub circles into her thigh with his thumb. He shook his head staring at the road of trees ahead of him but there was still a small smile on his lips.

With a roll of her eyes she said, "If you're trying to kidnap me, everyone will be looking for me."

He chuckled, "Good to know. Can't you just enjoy not knowing?"

"No. It makes me antsy."

There wasn't much road left and up ahead at the top of the cliff she could see an empty lot most likely used by hikers. Jungkook parked the car there and got out letting only the music play. Aerin joined him outside as he motioned for her to sit next to him on the hood of his car. Just past the short wooden fencing was a beautiful view of the city. It was late at night and all the city lights were on, red and yellow lights from traffic and the light buzz or cars driving not far away.

"I like to come here when it's quiet," Jungkook said as he scooted closer to her, "Told you I wasn't going to kidnap you."

"Still skeptical," she joked making him crack a smile. She placed her hand over his noticing the bruising on his knuckles and before he could pull it away she was bringing it closer to examine it, "What happened?"

"Accident at work," Jungkook said as he moved his hand to hold hers, "Nothing major though."

He tried not to think about the fact that she was studying him. How was he supposed to tell Aerin the truth? He's ashamed with himself but at the same time if he has to, he'll do it again.

It's a part of the job, not the auto shop of course, but the work he does for the Kim's. Everything comes with a price and he learned that early on in life. Getting a cars and expensive parts, fancy clothes and a big apartment didn't come from the shop. He never would have dreamt of any of that if it weren't for Jin. He's the reason his love for cars grew.

He's the one who convinced him to do side jobs and as he got more acquainted with the others the jobs became more dangerous.

He wasn't just boosting cars anymore or stealing entire engines from under the hoods.

Suddenly it's helping them with their money, making sure people in their territory pay their fees on time. It's giving  innocent people punishments if they didn't have enough funds and it made him want to vomit. He never grew up with money so he feels like a hypocrite to do this to people but there was nothing he could do about it. If anything ever happened the brothers would be very quick to throw him—and whoever he's close with—under the bus so if he has to play the puppet then he will.
