Well wasn't expecting to see Alice here that's for sure. She is really beautiful. Her long dark brown her lays on her back. Her long eyelashes and perfect shaped eyebrows. Her wide smile and bright teeth. She catches me staring at her and I quickly turn my head.
"What?" she whispers with a wide smile on her face.
"Uh..nothing.. sorry I just.." I get cut off by her.
"It's okay" she laughs quietly and focuses back to the front of the class room.
Class ends and I get up packing my books in my bag. I turn around to grab my pen and Alice does the same. Our hands meet and we look at each other making clear eye contact.
She flinches her hand towards her. "sorry.." she says looking a bit embarrassed. I smile at her and walk out of class.
The day has passed quickly and for some reason I don't seem to know why I can't stop thinking of Alice. I mean yes she's beautiful and yes she is sweet and kind. I just don't know why that makes me feel a stream of happiness run through my body.
Last period has ended and I head out to the bus stop. I wonder if I'll see Alice there. I shake the thought from my head and get on to the bus. I look to see if Alice is on the bus. I don't know why but I just want to see her I guess.
She isn't on the bus so I sit down on an empty two seater and place my bag on the seat beside me. The bus becomes crowded and Alice walks on the bus. She looks for a seat but they are all packed. I realise the annoyed look on her face. She looks down at me and I smile, removing one headphone from my ear. "Would you like to sit?" I ask pointing to the empty seat beside me.
"Thanks" she says as she places her bag on the floor between her feet.
An awkward flow runs between us for half the bus trip so I decide to break it. "So Alice what are you doing for the summer holidays?".
"Well not to sure yet. But there are many pool parties and beach hangouts that people are organising in our grade so I'm looking forward to that" She answers me.
"Oh yeah, that's my favourite party of the holidays. Pool parties, chilling by the beach, having fun" I add in a sarcastic tome.
"i get the feeling you won't being serious" she says smiling brightly and laughing softly.
"Well your right" I say. "Those sort of things aren't my type! I prefer playing basketball, skateboarding, those sort of things."
"Really? You don't like the beach?" she asks and I laugh.
"Of course I do! I love the beach. But not everyday. And most of the people there get drunk and hook up and crazy things like that. But I'm not saying I don't like those things" I chuckle smirking clearly as Alice nudges me with her elbow.
We keep a light conversation for the rest of the bus trip smd on our walk home. She tells me about her family and her dad. And I tell her about my family and my mum. I tell her how my mum went missing and how she wasn't the same when we found her. I tell her how my mum didn't last very long after going through depression and not being able to mentally and physically do it anymore. Stress took over her and she died of a heart attack. No one actually knew why she was depressed and stressed, not even my own father. But in the end we all knew she is in a much happier and safer place.
We reach our homes and say our goodbyes.
