Let me tell you a secret
I am quiet because
whenever I open my mouth
the strangest things happen.
Abstract nouns tumble out
they clatter on the ground,
dissolve,
shatter,
they plant themselves
like matter.
•
Whenever I open my mouth
Passion holds my hands
and whispers to me in a silent prayer
"Tell me more, tell me more."
"Tell me of what you adore."
•
Sometimes it is Anger that meets me
And sharpens my tongue like a blade
Because how dare people neglect
the beauty they radiate?
•
And Joy?
Oh, She sings,
offers her hand in light-hearted dance
and leads me on.
But she is as fragile as glass
she is as bright as the sun.
•
Let me tell you a secret
I am quiet because
for the majority,
most people around me
never hesitate to kill
the ones I cherish the most.
Passion like a lighthouse,
Joy like a rose.
•
So now,
my silence grows
like concrete walls
around my soul.
And they tell me,
that my roses are dying
and my lighthouse
will eventually fall.
