Chapter 4

(In the cafeteria, Lloyd,Kai and Nya are sitting at a table at the far back of the cafeteria eating their lunch and chatting)
Kai: ......so yeah that's our father's job. What does your own father do for a living Lloyd?
Lloyd:(lost in thought)
Kai: Lloyd? Lloyd?
Lloyd:(snaps back to reality) What were you saying again Kai?
Kai: I was asking you what your father does for a living.
Lloyd:(thinking) *Oh jeez, I can't tell him that my father is Lord Garmadon. I'll have to think of something else to say*(turns to Kai) I don't really want to talk about it.
Kai: Come on Lloyd. You know that even if your father is the school janitor me and Nya will still be your friends. Right Nya?
Nya: Right.
Lloyd: My father......levels buildings.
Kai: As in demolishes them?
Lloyd:Y...Yes
Kai: Well, that doesn't sound so bad.(thinks)*Wonder why he was so hesitant to talk about it. It's like he's hiding something*
(The bell rings,they head back to class. After school,Kai, Lloyd, and Nya are in the hallway)
Kai: Lloyd, do you want to hang out with us?
Lloyd: Really! You mean it?
Kai: Of course I do.
Nya: Yeah, we can hang out at our place.
Kai: Come on let's go.(thinks) *It's almost as if he's had no friends before. I wonder if people have been avoiding him ever since he was little.
But I can't see the reason why. And I'm sure that Lloyd wouldn't want to talk about it.*
(They leave)
(It's late evening in the city and Lloyd has not returned home; Koko is worried as the sun as already set, she is talking on the phone with someone)
Koko:(to the person she is talking to on the phone)......no, he hasn't returned, no, he didn't join forces with his father, yeah right,like your husband is a saint.
(Lloyd arrived but he is outside the door of the apartment. He changes his shoes to a pair of slippers before entering)
Lloyd: Hey mom! I'm back!
Koko: (with a hint of worry and annoyance in her voice) Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon, where have you been?(her voice is more calmer now) You had me worried sweetie.
Lloyd: I was hanging out with my new friends.
Koko: I'm so happy that you've finally made some friends. It's nice to see that you are finally having a normal life. I made you dumplings... your favorite tonight.
Lloyd: Thanks Mom!
(Lloyd goes into his room and drops his bag and his jacket on his bed, then he goes to the sink in the kitchen and washes his face and his hands. He then sits down at the table with his mom and they have dinner. After eating Lloyd goes to the bathroom, showers and wears his pyjamas. He then walks over to the bookshelf in his room and takes a Fritz Donnegan comic. He is reading it while lying down on his bed when his mom comes in and kisses him goodnight. He later falls asleep while reading the comic.)
