With the drones leading the way, small teams of military and K-9 units searched the area for the detected 'anomaly'.
Sonic watched the tense activity from a distance behind a fallen mossy log in a high place.
"Oka, okay. Everything is fine," he tried to quietly calm his nerves. "You played some baseball, got a little upset," — however the calming thoughts quickly escalated — "lightning shot out of your butt and now they're coming for you!"
The hedgehog immediately sped back to his home to collect himself.
"Alright, alright. Earth isn't safe anymore. Time for plan B: Mushroomville." He then realized, "But I gotta take my stuff. Okay, essential items only."
He snatched up a red backpack, zipping around packing as he listed the bare essentials:
"Okay, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair gel, nightlight." — picked up a foam ten-gallon — "Funny hat." — tossed it aside before picking up — "This half-eaten cantaloupe." Eww. Definitely tossing that one out... "Oh, my scented candle." He stuffed the candle in.
"My entire comic book collection," Sonic quickly stacked up his "library". "Beanbag chair," he checked his comfy cushion before looking back at his backpack.
"Can a beanbag chair fit in a backpack? No, no, no. That's stupid. Okay, what else?"
He frantically looked around before he eyed the satchel. "The rings!" He quickly snagged the satchel. "The rings, yes, of course!"
Sonic zipped up his backpack and slung it over his back. He pulled a single ring out of his satchel.
"Here we go," he readied himself. "Mushroom planet, here I come."
He immediately stopped when he saw the drones flying over the cave skylights.
"Oh, no! They're right outside!" He there the ring back into his satchel. "I gotta go somewhere else."
Sonic started to scurry, but turned around to look back at his decade-long sanctuary.
"Goodbye, cave, " he sighed, with sad tone in his voice. The Blue hedgehog then sped off to find a better location of departure...

The alarm on her watch beeped for 7:00 a.m. Willow pushed a button on the side then stretched out her arms.
After putting on her shorts and a light, breathable grey T-shirt with an American flag on it, she broke out one of a few bags of Crispix cereal from her backpack. Willow brought a lot of snacks with her whenever she went out-of-state. She also didn't want to trouble Tom with breakfast; she never took advantage of hospitality. An orange followed the the cereal afterwards.
Once Willow found the upstairs bathroom, brushed her teeth and washed her face, she pulled her black iPhone out of her backpack to see if the cell reception still worked. Sure enough, it did. She dialed a number and a woman's voice picked up.
"Hello?"
"Mom, it's me."
"Willow! Oh thank goodness you're alright! Where are you?"
"Strange enough, I'm in Montana," Willow replied as she looked through the window closest to her mattress.
"MONTANA?! Of all places, Willow! I hope you ACTUALLY ASKED FOR HELP to get a room for the night. There's a lot of open area in between towns."
