Dance With Somebody

Over the next few weeks Zoe had helped Bucky with meditation and music and the two had become close along with Steve who there by Bucky's side. One morning Steve and Bucky were on a run. It was their 2nd time around the reservoir. Bucky was feeling fine and probably could run a bit longer but decide to head back to the house. "Hey Steve I am going to head back to the house" said Bucky stopping. Steve stopped too "Are you okay Bucky?" asked Steve with concern. Bucky nodded "Yeah, it's just getting hot already and I am getting hungry so I am going go back take a shower and make some breakfast" replied Bucky. Steve nodded "Okay Bucky I going to make one more trip around." said Steve. Buck just nodded and turned around and headed back to the house.

A few minutes later he was at the front door he could hear noise coming from inside a steady upbeat rhythm as he quietly opened the door music filled his ears to a song he had never heard before but it was upbeat and lively the female singer was singing about dancing and love he was about to turn the corner to the kitchen when he heard Zoe's highly melodic voice singing along and he saw her dancing. It made him smile to see her swaying to the beat and singing to her heart's content he started to quietly laugh as he watched her. She was singing into a whisk like it was a microphone.

As Zoe was singing the chorus Bucky moved into the kitchen quickly hardly making a sound. She was so light and carefree that he had to be the one to dance with her He thought to himself. He leaned against the fridge as her back was turned but still singing and swaying around. He couldn't help but watch his eyes travel to her butt...Nope he thought moved his eyes back up

Zoe started move backwards towards him he had to cover his mouth from laughing out loud

Still singing Zoe back right into him and he wrapped his arms around her and whispered "Wanna dance with me?" he asked. Zoe let out huge scream and back away from him. She turn around to see Bucky bent over laughing. "Oh my Bucky you just scared the hell out of me, why didn't you say anything?" she snapped at him trying to catch her breath.

Bucky just leaned back on the counter and crossed his arms. "Oh and miss this concert in the kitchen I think not Angel" said Bucky with smirked. Zoe just went red and shook her head in embarrassment. Bucky moved towards her and held out his hand "Dance with me Doll" he said. Zoe just stared at him Bucky arched an eyebrow and shook his hand towards her. Zoe took his hand and he pull her towards him and started to move in a swing type dance. They moved together with a few fumbles but got into rhythm together.
I wanna dance with somebody, I wanna feel the heat with somebody.. Their eyes meet and Zoe took in a deep breath and the intensity was strong his eyes were staring straight into her soul. Yeah! I wanna dance with somebody, with somebody who loves me.. Bucky smiled and twirled her around and pull her back into him. His heart and hers were beating rapidly in rhythm together. He could hear it with his super hearing. He moved them around the kitchen. She was laughing and dancing with him moments like this people live for it was a light in the darkness and he wanted so many more moments with her... he felt his heart shutter I am falling... he was thinking. But something interrupted his thoughts "Ahem...." came a voice Bucky and Zoe stopped dancing and looked to see Steve standing near the table his eyes were narrowed at Bucky. "Hi Steve, how was your run?" asked Zoe moving away from Bucky and which he reluctantly let her go.

Steve moved more into the kitchen "It was nice, I think you would love it if you just gave it a chance" said Steve smiling at Zoe. Zoe just laughed "Yeah, right I am no runner especially the kinda of runs you take Cap" said Zoe shaking her head. "Never say never Sugar" said Steve winking. Zoe just rolled her eyes and Bucky groaned at Steve's comment. Steve turned his head to Bucky and frowned "Hey Bucky how's getting breakfast going?" said Steve smoothly. Bucky smirked at Steve looked "I haven't gotten any yet I was a little distracted" replied Bucky. Steve just nodded "I can see that" said Steve coldly.

Zoe looked between the two men and tilted her head in confusion but then turn to Bucky "Sorry Bucky, let's get you some breakfast I was about to make some chocolate chip pancakes would you like some?" asked Zoe him. Bucky nodded "Oh that sounds good let me help you" responded Bucky. But then Steve spoke "Actually, Buck I needed to talk to you about something" said Steve firmly. Bucky frowns but nods "I'll be back in a few minutes okay Doll" said Bucky to Zoe who just smiled.

Bucky follows Steve up to his room who shuts the door behind him. "Bucky we need to talk about something" says Steve in a serious tone. Bucky looks at Steve "About what Steve?" ask Bucky. Steve walks over to the door with balcony and looks out  "Zoe" replied Steve. Bucky frowns "What about her Steve?" questions Bucky going tense as he watches his friend. Steve turns around "I am concerned about her, look Bucky I see that she is helping you come out and I see the old Bucky again and that makes me so happy but" responds Steve. "But what Steve you think I will turn into the Winter Solider and hurt her" snap Bucky trying to control his anger. "No not all Bucky but is too soon start any type of relationship for you" said Steve solemnly. Bucky pressed his lips together than ran his fingers threw his hair. "And what makes think I am looking to start a relationship?" Bucky asked. Steve look at him "Bucky I see the way you look at her and the way are with her it's like you are back in the 40's and all those girls...." started Steve.

Bucky stood up and walked straight over to Steve "It's not like that all Steve... Zoe not like those other girls...she's special...we just friends" sputtered Bucky bitterly. "You're absolutely right I need to focus on getting better and getting this out my head...Zoe just helps me forget about the Winter Solider what he did" responded Bucky and looked down. Steve put his hand on Bucky's shoulder. "Are you sure you don't like her more than a friend?" asked Steve tensely. Bucky knew what was coming "Cause I do and I really want to ask her out but only if it's okay with you..." Steve hesitated not wanting to look at Bucky. He looked at his best friend for almost a century a man who had made so many sacrifices and saved him and saw the hope in Steve's eyes. He had to make a sacrifice now even though probably would kill him because he was going to lie.  Bucky sighed "I like her but only as a friend it's just really easy to be around her" replied Bucky. Steve had huge smile on his face.  "I know she's smart and witty and such spitfire she had put me in my place especially when I need it and so beautiful oh my god, she just takes my breath away" sighed Steve.

It was like a punch right to his heart hearing how Steve felt about Zoe. Knowing he never would stand a chance compared to a man like Steve. Honest, dependable and so loyal and never backs down from a challenge and always fights for the underdog. Where he a broken man who had killed and can't always keeps his own mind. He would put Zoe in danger where as Steve could as keep her safe and protected. "Go get her buddy, but don't you dare break her heart or you will regret it Steve and it's just not just me you have to worry about" said Bucky.  Steve pulled Bucky in for a quick hug. "Thanks Buck" said Steve and he walked out the door.  Bucky sat down and put his head in his hands. Thinking just ten minutes ago he was so happy dancing around with her, now he had lost that.. because the somebody she would be dancing with would be Steve and thought of that just shattered his soul.
