Cheesecake and Chatting

Zoe let Bucky guide her to the bedroom "Come on Angel, it okay I promise he has never been the smartest when it comes to women" said Bucky rubbing her back. Zoe pulled back and gave a small chuckle "I can't believe I going quote this you don't a bloody thing about women" said Zoe with a mocking British accent also rolling her eyes. Bucky looked at her with widen eyes "Did you just quote Miss. Carter" asked Bucky asked with an look of disbelief on his face. Zoe just rolled her eyes "It was just fitting is all still can't stand her" said Zoe bitterly. Zoe sat down on her bed "Bucky am I over reacting? I mean you guys are from a different time women definitely behave differently then we do now his comments just sent back to when I was a little girl never measuring up to people I care about expectations that I will never be good enough and I know if he had the choice he would go back to her" said Zoe as she wiped the tears off her cheeks. Bucky sat down next to her on the bed. "Oh Angel like I said he can be an idiot when it comes to women but we have talk over the last few weeks he has told me that you are so amazing and he loves spending time with you" said Bucky closing his eyes it absolutely killed him hearing Steve talking about his relationship with Zoe but that wasn't important right now what was Zoe.

"Zoe, you are truly the first women to show a real general interest in Steve I mean in the forties I tried to set him up with a bunch of different women but they always seem to only have eyes..." said Bucky hesitantly. Zoe smirked at him "Only eyes for you Buck that's right you were quite the ladies man back in the day" laughed Zoe. Bucky grimaced at the statement and just shook his head "Yeah well that was a long time ago I am not the same man" replied Bucky quietly. Zoe just smiled at him "I know I am just teasing you Buck" said Zoe. Bucky looked at her with some sadness and then looked away from her. "Bucky are..." Zoe started to say but was interrupted by a knock on the door.  Zoe stiffens at who might be at the door Bucky stands up and opens the door carefully to see Nat standing there with a bag and forks. Bucky stepped aside and Nat walked in "I brought some comfort food and sympathy" said Nat holding the cakes that Zoe had bought earlier. Zoe gave a small smile "Thanks Nat but I think I will pass" replied Zoe softly. Both Nat and Bucky gave her a look "Don't let the idiot ruin a chance at eating perfectly good cake Zoe" replied Nat firmly as she set the bag down and opened one of boxes  "Oh chocolate my favorite" said Nat happily. Zoe smiled "Yeah that's one's for you and the other one is for Bucky it's one of the specialty one it's called the Ella Rose one of my favorites from that restaurant" said Zoe as Nat handed the small box to Bucky.

Bucky looked at Zoe "You got me a dessert?" asked Bucky in surprised tone to which Zoe just nodded and "Yeah I know you can't go out much and I thought you might like a special treat my grandparents use to take me to Taggart's Grill at the end of summer dinner and my grandma would allow to pick a dessert all by myself and this was one hers and my favorites so I just wanted to share it with you" replied Zoe. Bucky just looked down and shook his head then looked at her "Thank you Zoe that was very thoughtful of you" Bucky said quietly. Zoe nodded and smiled "Well you're welcome and I hope you like it" replied Zoe. Nat handed everyone a fork "Now let's dig and enjoy these desserts" said Nat happily as she took a bite of the chocolate cake "Mmm this is soo good" said Nat after she took a bite. Zoe just laughed and watched as Bucky took a bite of the cheesecake and just closed his eyes. This made Zoe giggle which made Bucky look at her "Damn Zoe this is so amazing you have to have a bite" he said excitedly. Zoe picked up her fork and cut a small part and took the bite as the sweet flavors flooding her mouth. Memories of her grandma sharing one with her hit like a rock it was some of the most peaceful and happy times of her life those few short months of the year that she shared with them. "Zoe are you okay?" asked Bucky concerned. Zoe looked at him and just nodded "Yes, Bucky this cheesecake just brings some happy memories is all" responded Zoe.

They finished the cakes when Zoe looked at the other two "Thank you so much for cheering me up" said Zoe. "Well of course Angel anything to keep you smiling" said Bucky just staring at her. Zoe blushed a little and looked over to Nat who had an arched eyebrow but said nothing. Zoe walked over to the balcony door and walked outside and looked up at the mountains she sighed. Soon she felt someone standing next to her, Zoe turn to see Bucky "Hey doll what's going through that pretty little mind of yours" asked Bucky lean against the balcony looking at her.

Zoe just shook her head "I don't know my mind is just racing with a bunch of stuff I don't want to bug you with" replied Zoe quietly. Bucky moved closer to her to were they practically touching shoulders. "Look at me Angel" said Bucky firmly. Zoe looked at him and those vivid steel blue eyes which seemed calm her mind. "Bucky" was all she said but then she looked down feeling like she was a burden. A hand moved under her chin to make her look at him "Zoe, look at me and believe me when I say I understand how it is to have doubts and demons playing with your mind it happens every time I close my eyes" said Bucky with a small frown. Zoe bit her lip "I just don't want to burden anyone with my problems Bucky" said Zoe. Bucky pushed back some of hair back behind her ear. "Oh Angel you are not a burden at all matter of fact you a light to so many especially to me Zoe so please share your troubles don't hold them in" said Bucky. Both of them were silent for several seconds "Bucky my troubles seems so small compared to what you and the others have been through" said Zoe with a sigh. Bucky lean forward "No Zoe, not smaller just different and remember I caused the biggest trouble in your life by killing..." started Bucky. Zoe interrupted him "Bucky that was Hydra controlling you it wasn't your fault" responded Zoe. "This is why I love you you see the goodness in people and have such an open heart please don't let the idiot downstairs be the reason why you close it but I think you should go talk to him it's not good to go to sleep angry" whispered Bucky as he hugged her not really wanting to let her go but he pulled back and rubbed her shoulder. Zoe looked at him with a nodded "Yeah you're right Bucky I should go talk to him" said Zoe walking back towards the door she stopped and turned around and back to him pulled him again for a hug then pulled back slightly and gave him a peck on the cheek which made Bucky's heart race. Zoe lean forward and whispered "Thanks for being such a good friend Bucky" those words were like a punched to his heart.

After Zoe left Bucky leaned against the balcony and put his head in his hands. He groaned he frustrated he had practically pushed the women he cared about back into the arms of his best friend. "That was pretty selfless of you know that" said a voice from behind him. Bucky turn to see Nat standing in the doorway. Bucky groaned seeing her there "I just gave her a pep talk is all" said Bucky shrugging his shoulders. Nat rolled her eyes "Mr. Barnes I am spy so I observe things most people don't see and it's very clear that you have fallen in love with Zoe besides you totally confessed it tonight" said Nat with small smile. Bucky rubbed his normal hand on the back of his neck and only gave a quick nod of his head in acknowledgment. "I don't deserve someone like her Nat she belongs to someone noble like Steve" he replied with a sad tone. Nat just shook her head "Buck face it she totally out both your leagues" said Nat with a laugh Bucky smiled and laughed along with her.

"Bucky you deserve love we all do and I am sure one day you will find it" said Nat. Bucky just shook his head "I did but it's with someone who I can never have" replied Bucky and he walked out the room.
