As July moved into August Zoe and Steve spent a lot of time together. They went on hikes on the near by trails. Zoe helped him catch up a lot of movies  and music. Zoe loved the time they spent together the only thing that held her back was she was scared he would realize that he could do better and would leave and she talk to Nat about it but Nat would shake her head and would say "He is crazy about you Zoe and he wouldn't dare because he face the wrath of the rest of the Avengers especially Tony and Bucky believe me Zoe you have nothing to worry about." Zoe would nod and give a smile
They really couldn't go out in public much but he did take her to a local restaurant called Taggart's Grill they shared an Awesome Chicken Pit'za and they each got a cheesecake her blueberry and him strawberry. It had been a nice evening and they were going to go to near by city for a festival. He was walking out to the get the car and Zoe stopped at the counter of desserts "Can I get the Mom's Chocolate Cake and a Ella Rose cheesecake to go please" asked Zoe to the lady at the counter. The women nodded "Of course excellent choices, ma'am" replied the women. Zoe paid and walked out to the car where Steve was waiting. She climbed in he gave her annoyed looked "Did you get more desserts, Zoe do you really need those?" he snapped. Zoe flinched at his words and it felt like a smack across the face. Then she looked over at him with narrowed eyes "What's your problem Rogers sorry you had to wait an extra five minutes and if I want more desserts I can get more but just so you know asshole these are for Bucky and Nat" snapped Zoe back. Steve look taken a back by her reaction. "Zoe .. I am sorry.." said Steve as he reached for her but she pulled away. "Take me back to the house Rogers" she said tensely.

Steve looked Zoe who was looking straight a head with her arms crossed. It began to rain steadily Steve watched the rain hit the windshield with a steady pace. "Zoe please calm down..." Steve said quietly. Zoe snapped her head towards him and there was a crack of lightening near by which made Steve jump. "Do not tell me to calm down Rogers and just take me back now" snapped Zoe as her eyes flashed Steve heard a loud roll of Thunder. He gripped the steering wheel and drove back to the house.

The ride was in total silence but the rain hit around them at a steady pace. Steve would watch the road the best he could but take a glance at Zoe ever few minutes but she was looking out the passenger window the whole time. He could hear soft sniffs from time to time and he just sighed but didn't say a word. Twenty minutes later he pulled up to the house and parked the car. Zoe unbuckled her seatbelt and was out the car and slammed the door. Steve grimaced at the action.

Zoe went storming into the house slamming the door behind her. She set the desserts on the counter then sat down on one of the stools and started to cry. Soon Zoe felt a hand on her shoulder she jerked away "Leave me alone Steve" she cried. "What did he do?" asked low voice Zoe snapped her head up to see Bucky by her side with a worried face. She shook her head and she wiped the tear from her face. "It's nothing Bucky I am just being a little sensitive is all" replied Zoe. Bucky narrowed his eyes then pulled her in for a hug "Tell me Angel what did he do?" asked Bucky in a more firm tone. Zoe just sighed "I stopped a grabbed you and Nat a dessert and he assumed that I got the dessert for me and asked if I really needed it" said Zoe as the tears flows down her face. Bucky groaned "Idiot" he snapped. Nat walked into the kitchen and saw Bucky holding Zoe as she was crying. She tilted her head and gave Bucky a questioning looking. Bucky mouthed "Steve" which made Nat roll her eyes. "I wondered what the sudden shower just came from" replied Nat frowning.

Steve came walking into the house to see the three people standing in the kitchen his eyes narrowed at Zoe in Bucky's arms. "Zoe seriously you are making this a bigger deal then this needs to be" snapped Steve. Zoe gasped and both Bucky and Nat groaned. Zoe stepped away from Bucky and marched right to Steve "Steve I am upset because my boyfriend basically called me fat how am I supposed to act, you didn't even asked what the other desserts were for, you just assumed" cried Zoe. Steve just shook his head "Look I made mistake I should have asked and I said I was sorry" replied Steve firmly. Zoe looked down "Steve this isn't the first time you have made a comment about what I eat or what I wearing or how I should be acting, I have been trying to ignore them but tonight it just finally got to me is all" said Zoe shaking her head. Steve just looked at Zoe and rolled his eyes. "I don't know what you mean Zoe" he replied tensely.

Zoe took a deep breath and began to circle her thumb on her hand. "Steve last week you said my shorts were not long enough but it was crazy hot and yesterday I was just having a snack and again you asked if I really needed that, and many other time your comments really hurt and I feel like I am not good enough" said Zoe sadly. Zoe didn't see Bucky clinching his fist on his sides but she did see Steve just shake his head "Come on Zoe don't you think you aren't being just a little dramatic gosh Peggy never acted this way" snapped Steve. "Oh shit" said Nat and Bucky just groaned. Zoe got closer to Steve "DO NOT COMPARE ME TO THAT BITCH" yelled Zoe she her fist were glowing purple and yellow. Steve took a step back his eye widen. "Zoe I am sorry I wasn't thinking" said Steve with his hand gestured out in front of him.

Bucky put a hand on Zoe shoulder again "Hey Zoe don't listen to the idiot let's go up stairs and calm down ok" said Bucky pointing towards the stairs. Zoe looked into Bucky's eyes and instantly felt calm and the glowing stopped she just nodded and they started towards the stairs. Steve tried to stop them "Zoe please Sugar talk to me I am.." but he stopped when he saw Zoe's glare which could have turn him to stone if she that power. Zoe turn from him and went with Bucky upstairs. Steve walked to the couch and sat down and just groaned in frustration. Nat sighed "You know Rogers that was the stupidest thing you could have said to her" she said. "I don't want to hear it Romanoff I know I was and idiot" he replied. "Steve you have no idea do you, her whole life her adoptive family made the same kinda of comments to her and made her feel little, the one of her few comforts was books and us we gave her hope that things can be better if you just stay true yourself and stand up when people try to hold you back, so coming here and being around the people who brought her hope she finally feels comfortable to be herself and we don't judge her then you go and and make dumbass comments sets her right back" says Nat in a tense tone. Steve goes to speak but Nat but her hand up to stop him. "No Steve let me finish you mess up big you compared her to women who basically ruined her life and women you used to love or still do I don't know but you held Zoe's heart and tonight you just crushed it" snapped Nat walking over to the counter grabbing the desserts. "Now if you excuse me I am taking these up and we are going eat these if your so worried about what you had for dinner I suggest you can take your ass out for a run" snapped Nat grabbing some from forks and walking towards the stair leaving Steve alone. Steve put his head in his hands then looked outside to see proof that he had hurt her and he wasn't the one to comfort her as the rain had finally stopped.
