I looked back over at Fathom who was clutching the wooden statue. He was crying and whispering to the statue. I stood up and cautiously walked towards him. Fathom looked at me desperately and then turned back to the statue, "Bring her back," he said fiercely to the carving. "Turn back into Indigo, my friend, exactly the way she was before Darkstalker did this to her." The carving twitched in his claws and a soft glow surrounded the little dragon, and as he set it down on the floor it started to grow, and shift, and change. And then she was there, alive and right in front of him, herself again. Indigo stretched her wings as wide as they would go and pressed her talons down into the floor. "Yowch," she said. "Did I fall asleep? Great starfish, I'm hungry. Oh no, Fathom, why are you crying?" Her wings went around him and he held her close, sobbing with relief. "You're alive," he said shakily. "You didn't leave me." "Of course I didn't leave you," she said crossly, straightening up to face him. "I said I never would and I never will. Get that through your thick skull." "I love you," he said. I smiled at the two reuniting again, but I looked back down at Darkstalker's scroll. Fathom and I were supposed to take the scroll and hide it as far away from the Night kingdom as possible, but I knew he'd want to catch up with Indigo. "Uhm, I hate to interrupt, but Fathom, I'll go ahead and take the scroll and hide it, I have a great idea where to put it. You go ahead and catch up with Indigo." Fathom sniffed and nodded, "Thank you. Goodbye Shiver." Indigo waved to me as well. "Goodbye Fathom, I'm going to miss you and Clearsight. This definitely has been the second most exciting thing to happen to me." I picked up the scroll and slipped it into my pouch and climbed my way up to the window, spread my wings and flew. Below me, dragons were spilling out of the palace, out of the school, out of the ravines and canyons of the Night Kingdom. The NightWings were fleeing, their terror of Darkstalker driving them out of their homes to some unknown, faraway place where they might be safe, where he might never find them. Even if Clearsight's plan works, that dagger he enchanted is going to make everyone think he's still alive for a long time and that he's out there hunting them. They will never return here in fear that he's still alive and waiting.
As I flew I could feel the power of Darkstalker's scroll radiating from the pouch I carried it in. I was about to cross the border of the Night kingdom, when I stopped. I couldn't leave quite yet. Clearsight was about to face Darkstalker all alone. Even if she was sure of herself, and the future, she could mess it up. She's said that plenty of times recently. I swooped and twisted in the air to turn myself around, dodging the NightWings pooling out of the Kingdom. I know I'm not supposed to come back, but maybe I could hide myself and watch from a distance, and jump in if something was about to happen. I overheard Clearsight say that she wanted to meet Darkstalker at Agate mountain, so I flew determined towards the tallest mountain. Once I got close, I could see the two standing in the mouth of a cave, talking, however I couldn't hear them. I ducked behind the closest mountain, and hid myself, peeking out behind a boulder. The two seemed to be discussing something relatively calmly, until Darkstalker roared and seized Clearsight's wrist, twisting it. I stood up quickly, ready to jump in, possibly even use my magic to save her, but Clearsight slid the bracelet off her arm, onto Darkstalker's. Darkstalker's face twisted into rage, betrayal, and confusion, until he collapsed, his wings folding neatly behind himself. Clearsight was crying now, and I swooped over. "Clearsight, are you alright?" Clearsight jumped, startled, "Shiver, what are you doing here? You were supposed to leave with Fathom, and hide his scroll." "I know, I know, but I wanted Fathom to catch up with Indigo, after he brought her back... long story, and I took his scroll and was making my way out of the kingdom, but I just couldn't leave without making sure you were okay." Clearsight wiped some tears out of her eyes, "Shiver, this could have messed everything up!" I looked at the ground guilty, "I know, again I'm sorry." Clearsight put her talon over mine, "It's alright, it's over now. But, we should get out of here quickly though, there's going to be an earthquake that will topple this side of the mountain, burying Darkstalker." I spread my wings alarmed, "Oh, okay, yeah let's get out of here." We both flew over to another mountain close by, watching as the earth shook, crumbling the mountain and burying Darkstalker. "So Clearsight, what do you plan on doing now? I'd imagine that the NightWing's will probably turn you away, since you were affiliated with Darkstalker." Clearsight nodded, "Yes, they'll never trust me again. I was thinking I could find the Lost Continent, start a new life there. I can see many futures where I find a new love, and have dragonets with them." I looked out over the horizon, at the golden sun streaked sky, "I think that's a good idea. But I feel like I should stay here. Will you be okay to go alone?" Clearsight nodded, "Of course, I have your map, and the ability to see the future. I'll make it just fine." I wrapped my wings around Clearsight, "I'm going to miss you." Clearsight hugged me back, "Same here Shiver. Keep up what you're doing, you'll save a lot of dragons if you do." After we let go of each other, we headed out in different directions, getting ready to start a new adventure.
