I flew off in the opposite direction of the group, and landed on an empty desolate beach. I sat on the sand fiddling with a rock, I couldn't believe the way Darkstalker was acting. I looked out in the distance at the three moons that lit the sky, and the beautiful stars that filled the inky black night. "Maybe I should just go back to the Ice Kingdom, perhaps Diamond is nice and will accept me." I wondered out loud. I heard something shift behind me, followed by wingbeats. I turned around and scanned the trees and tree line sharply, looking for what made the noise. It took me a moment to realize there was a NightWing watching me, hidden in the darkness from the trees. "Come out," I said sternly, "I can see you." The NightWing shifted but eventually flew out and landed next to me. They had light gray scales, with black fading to the top, along with almost white horns that ended with black tips. Their wings were like a blue night sky, with stars scattered across. The most notable thing about them however, was the fact they had two different colored eyes. One eye was a bluish purple, and the other was a greenish blue. "Who are you?" "I'm Lostthought." They shifted their talons across the sand anxiously, and spoke very softly. "Why were you watching me?" I asked them. "I thought you were a different IceWing, but then I realized who you were, and I wanted to see if you were really going to leave, because I would've had to stop you." I looked at them confused, "Why? How do you know me?" They shifted anxiously again, "I can see futures and make prophecies, and you were in one of them. You were really important too, which is why I can't let you leave." I looked at her in surprise, "Really? What did your vision or prophecy say?" They shook their head, "I don't think I should tell you, it might scare you off?" "No, I promise it won't, I want to know." They took a deep breath and sighed, "Alright I guess... Hatched of Ice and hatched of Night, cursed with the moons all shining bright. Longs for power, not his own. He has come to steal the very throne. Only three to stop him now. One of Night, one of Ice, and the other Sea, all need to climb the highest peak. Lay him to rest for 2,000 years, until he rises to face his fears." They finished, closing their eyes and shaking their head, "I know it involves you because I saw you hanging out with that one hybrid, Darkstalker. I think that's his name." I nodded, "Yeah... that's him. He's going to try and steal the throne?" I asked, confused. "That's what my prophecy says... but it could be wrong, they've been wrong before." Lostthought shrugged. I sat thinking for a moment, "So, what can I do? Poor Fathom and Clearsight, they probably don't even realize." Lostthought nodded, "Possibly... But Clersight should know? They're the best seer in this entire tribe! I don't know, maybe she doesn't believe it... or he enchanted her. Anything is possible." I sighed, "If he enchanted her, I'm not sure if I could do anything about it. I mean after all, I don't want to use too much magic." I held out my talons to examine them. Lostthought looked at me with a bit of sadness, "That power is a blessing and a curse, but I can assure you that a few more spells won't hurt, since you'll have to use your magic to either kill Darkstlker, or just make him weaker." I looked at her scared, "Kill Darkstalker?" I said with surprise, "No, no, no... That's the last thing I want to do, I hate the thought of killing another dragon, no matter how evil." I shuddered from my head to tail. "Now, I'm not sure how true this is but... Violent or greedy animus spells I feel like turn the dragon more evil. I've seen it at least once, maybe twice." Lostthought looked at me curiously, "Hm. That's an interesting observation. What were the two experiences you've had, if I may ask." I picked up a pebble off the beach and started tossing it between my talons, "I'm not sure If Albatross was violent or greedy. But he was the second Animus I had seen go crazy. The first one however, was a SkyWing. I can't remember their name but they had dark red crimson scales. And I was called in to stop them from their murder spree." I clutched the pebble in my talons. "The SkyWings had animus dragons?" Lostthought asked curiously. "Yes, at one point, but never again after that incident." "So, how did you stop them?" I clutched the pebble even tighter. "I enchanted a rock, to put them into a sleep." I held out the pebble in my talons. Lostthought looked at me "Do you know what happened to them after?" I shook my head, "No. I don't know if they ever woke up, but I do know they were executed by the Queen." I put the pebble back down on the beach, "I made sure the enchantment didn't hurt them on purpose. I just wanted to stop them. However I remember a few days after Queen Canary asked why I didn't just enchant something to kill them, and I tried to explain my theory to them." "And what did they say?" Lostthought asked. "Well, I found out that particular SkyWing was very greedy, and would constantly enchant things to only benefit themselves, and they could be violent at times. So I tried explaining to them that spells like that could corrupt the dragon into going crazy, but she wouldn't listen, and claimed all animus dragons were secretly close to going over the edge. And ever since then has defined the way Animus dragons are looked at." Lostthought looked at me sadly, "I'm sorry... I don't think Animus magic is dangerous, it just depends on the dragon and the way they use it." I nodded in agreement. I looked over across the ocean and saw the sun starting to rise, "I should probably go get some sleep, I might see you around?" Lostthought nodded, "You probably will, if you ever need to find me I'm either in the library or out here on the beach." I smiled, "Sounds good, I'll keep an eye out for you." I spread my wings and headed back to the palace.
