My mind kept repeating my encounter with Riddle. Every time I opened my eyes, all I could see was him bringing his face closer to me. Why is this happening to me and why does he have this much effect on me?
I kept my eyes shut and told myself to fall asleep. When I can't fall asleep, I always sing my favorite songs in my mind. All of sudden I heard a creak from the other sound of the bedroom.
One of the girl's beds was creaking and then there were footsteps echoing through the room. Someone slipped out of the dorm and shut the door softly behind them. I waited a couple of seconds and then sat up in bed.
Looking around the dorm room, I noticed that Lily's bed was empty. Why was Lily sneaking out in the middle of the night? I grabbed my wand from my bedside table and got up. I felt the floor creaking beneath me and I winced. I looked around the dorm but luckily nobody woke up.
I grabbed my cloak off the floor where I threw it earlier tonight. As lightly as I could I walked to the dorm room and pushed it open. I closed it as softly as possible and started walking. I had to be quicker if I wanted to catch up with Lily.
I walked out of the common room and I saw Lily's flaming red hair from a little distance. She was walking towards the second floor. I tiptoed after her and wondered about her motivations.
Lily looked around and I pushed myself against the wall. Lily eyed the hallway suspiciously but eventually turned around again. I exhaled in relief. Lily's eyes snapped towards my direction.
I stumbled backwards and bumped against one of the classrooms. I fumbled for the door handle and pushed it down. The door opened for me and I stepped inside and closed it behind me. I grabbed my wand from my cloak and muttered a spell beneath my breath.
The door is not going to be opened any time soon. I walked into the classroom which looked really creepy in the darkness that it was clouded in. I did not dare to conjure up light because Lily was still walking through the hallway. Her footsteps echoed through the hallway and I held my breath.
I looked around the classroom and there was a book lying on one of the tables. Whilst trying to be quiet, I walked towards the table and picked up the diary. I wanted to grab the diary, but then the diary flipped open.
On the page was a snake. The snake was large and it was green with black scales. Next to the picture one word was written. Nagini. My fingers traced the forms of the snake whilst wandering from who this diary could be.
My fingers slipped towards the other pages and tried to open the other pages. The diary did not let me see anything further because it closed abruptly. I tried to open the diary again, but it wouldn't bulge.
I decided to slip out of the classroom and back to my dorm room. I looked outside the window and the sun was dipping above the horizon. How long was I out of bed tonight? I walked to the door and opened the door.
I stepped into the hallway and decided to stick to the shadows. I did not want to risk a teacher finding me alone at this hour. I would get detention for at least a month. I turned around the corner and there was a meeting that I was not expecting.
Riddle was pressing Lily against the wall.
