It was the last period of the school day Hu tao was just bored out of her mind sitting in Mr.Diluc's history class. When the bell rung it was like a spark that set off within everybody in that room "Remember to do your homework class" Mr.Diluc says as the kids were pouring out the door. When Hu tao left the school doors she felt free as a bird she just wanted to go home, ten minutes into her walk home she was just listening and vibing to the music on her earbuds when she paused as she saw a an ambulance drive towards the direction she was headed with flashing red lights and sirens playing, it was her house.

With that Hu tao put her earbuds in her pocket and ran towards the direction of her home "please don't be what i think it is" she thought. Upon reaching her home she noticed that her front door was wide open and the paramedics just closed the doors before she got glimps of the person inside. She put two and two together and she ran up to her neighbor who was near and watching the whole thing. "Madame Ping what happened to my grandpa? is he gonna be okay?" Hu tao was fearing the worst. She then had a sorrow look on her face"your grandfather he.." she was hesitant "he had an heart attack".

When those words left her mouth Hu tao froze she felt like the whole world just came crashing down on her. Hu tao's eyes began to water up "Hu tao you okay?" Madame holding Hu tao's cheek. Then Hu tao pulled away "I'm going to be fine don't worry about me I just need sometime alone" she was trying her best to sound normal trying to hiding the pain within her voice "Are you sure? you can come ove-" "No its fine really it is I just need time alone" Hu tao then ran into her house and closed the door. After that she walked upstairs when she just collaps on to her bed and broke down letting it all out.

Her grandfather was all she had left in her life, her parents passed away when she was seven and ever since then her grandfather has taken her in a long with handling the funreal parlor. Her grandfather was always there for her cheering her up when she was down and loved her with all the joy in the world. Now she's all alone now most likely with no one to support her.

After crying into her pillow for sometime she eventually fell asleep she didn't know how long she slept for but when she woke up it was night. Her pillow was soaked wet from her tears and her hair was a complete mess. She got out of her bed and turned on a nearby lamp and looked herself in the mirrior. Her eyes were wet and her cheeks where puffy from her crying. "Maybe a stroll will make me feel better" she thought before exiting her room.

On her way down the stairs she looked at the sofa in the living room where her grandfather would usually be at reading a newspaper or taking a nap. Those memories made her tear up again but she just wiped them off and walked out the door.

Her hands where in the pockets of her hoodie as she just strolled down the street of the night until she reached the park where she just sat on a bench thinking to herself. "What am I going to do without grandpa? Is he going to make it? what if he doesn't? can I really handle the parlor by myself?" Hu tao's thoughts where racing all these thoughts of her grandpa was making her want to cry again "Hey"she heard a familiar voice behind her.

She turned her head to see who it was, it was Xiao she instantly wiped her tears of her face "What do you want" Hu tao says trying to hide the pain in her voice. Xiao noticed this but decided not to bring it up "What are you doing out this dark at night". "I could say the same for you" Hu tao responded sternly. Xiao then walked over and sat the seat next to her "Your crying what's wrong?" "i-it's none of your buisness" Hu tao say's her voice cracking a bit. Xiao had to admit he hated hearing her like this and much as he hate to say it he missed her teasing/joyful attitude "talking about it will make it feel better".

Hu tao was hesitant at first but eventually gave in "M-My grandfather had a heart attack and I'm very afraid he won't make it" she was starting to tear up again but she was startled when she felt two arms hug her and pull her into his chest, he was so warm. Xiao didn't know why he did what he did but he remembered what his mom told him that hugs make people feel better and seeing Hu tao tear up like that made his body almost act upon instinct.

Xiao patted her back "It's okay I know what's it like to lose a loved one it's tough but I'm here for you in you need". Hu tao felt like she could get lost in the warmth of his hug forever, she snifffed "thanks I-I really needed this" "no problem". After a few minutes Xiao pulled away, Hu tao already missing his warmth "It's getting a bit late we should headback I'll walk you".

"No no you don't have to-" Hu tao protested "It's dark out I don't want anything to happen to you". Hu tao's ears turned a light pink upon hearing this.

When they reached her house Hu tao began walking up the stairs that lead to her front door before truning the doornob she turned around and saw Xiao leaving "wait" she called out. Xiao then stopped to look at her but before he could ask her what he felt her hug him tightly. "Thanks Xiao you really made me feel better I don't know how to repay you". Hu tao then looked up at him into his amber eyes "Let's be buddies from now on okay?". Xiao was lost in her scarlet eyes and her star shaped pupils she was really pretty.

wait.

what did i just-?

Xiao snapped back to reality adverting his eyes else where "Yeah sure we can be friends". "Great then see you next time then" Hu tao gave him a slight smile before walking up her poarch and into her home.

"My first ever friend huh?" Xiao though to himself.
