chapter 4 ~ in the eye of a women

Jane POV

I awkwardly look through the long clothing racks of long shirts. I have never liked shopping, even when I was a girl, well looked like a girl makes more sense... since I am still very much a girl.

I have never liked choosing what to wear and what people will think about it, who gives a stuff what people think, people will gossip about anything these days it would hardly matter. But guy shopping that’s a different thing all together! There aren’t any dresses or skirts to choose from only jeans, tops shorts and jackets.

I only need three pairs of jeans, two pairs of shorts, board shorts, a jacket, socks, undies (no bras!) and five shirts. That is about what a guys wardrobe consists of and most of the time I will be in uniform anyways so it hardly matter what I wear on my weeks off.

Oh and to add to my list, enhances! I had never heard of them before but seeing as my uncles are gay they seemed to know what they were doing, they rushed off to some shop as soon as we got here, I wouldn’t go with them, what would I say, hi I am a girl and I am here to buy fake guy parts. Why can’t I just shove a sock down there or something?

“Hi can I help you?” I look up at the girl with the brunette perm and the all too familiar bright red lips and long white boots and a mini skirt. Mary. One of my closet girlfriends, I have known her since seventh grade. I had forgotten she had worked here. I look down at the shirt in my hand what the hell am I meant to do! She smiles sweetly at me, oh no I can tell she’s onto something. My throat tightens if she finds out……………

“Are you okay sir” she still smiles.

I snap out of it and rub the back of my neck.” I am looking for casual clothes, but all of these are huge.” I grunt out, trying to make my voice as deep as I can without sounding like an idiot.

She grabs my arm “here I’ll help you, I saw you and picked some out in advance.” She pulls me towards the rack and piles up some shirts and tops, red, blue, brown, black. She hands a shirt to me.

“Um Mary where are the change rooms?” I ask, not daring enough to look into her eyes.

Her eyebrows furrow.

“How did you know my name, I haven’t told you that yet...” she drawled, flirtatiously eyes me up and down.

Ohh crap that’s right I am not supposed to know her, and I am meant to be attracted to her.

I shot her one of my best smiles.

“I remember you from a party, trust me I don’t forget pretty girls names” I smile, grabbing the pile of clothes out of her hand. Her cheeks start to burn red and she licks her lips, her top secret boy catching move, the fact that she is using it  on me gives me the creeps.

“Uh dressing room please” I grunt, looking at her face, in her eyeballs, I see my reflection. I look different, no wonder she hasn’t picked up on me.

“You’re welcome to just change here” she smiles. I freeze, I forgot guys just normally tried stuff on, at the sales floor, shit, I am doomed, if she sees my bandage and lack of equipment.

I smirk and slap her on the shoulder.

“Nice try hun, but I like to keep the ladies dreaming”  She wipes the smile off her face clearly confused, but blushes and points to a set of orange doors over to the side. I brush past her and walk into one. Slamming it shut, I press my back against the hard wood. I am never going shopping again, pronto. No way hozay am I going to flirt with a girl, I am engaged. TO A GUY!
