Chapter 10 - Finding River

Author’s note: This is an interlude. This is where, Marley would find her daughter and where I would skip a few episodes. 😅

Soon, Marley’s call was heard and her daughter was close to be found. Strangely she was in New York, hidden away. The closed thing she could get was under ground in the sewers. “Strange.” Marley muttered.

Magnus heard her. “What is strange, Munchkin?”

Marley looked at her father. “River is in New York, under ground, in the sewers. That’s all I could get.”

Just then, Faye walked in with Elijah, also Chelsea came with. “Mama.” Faye haw her she mothers face. “What’s wrong?”

“River is in the sewers of New York.” Marley replied to her.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t leave.” Elijah told them.

“I know, it’s because of Elena.” Marley nodded, she understood. “But, When I need you, you come right away.”

“Mabey you could ask Damon?” Faye asked to her mother.

“No, he is too got up in Elijah and the curse.” Marley glanced at Elijah. “But I can ask Aiden.”

“You better do that.” Faye nodded.

“Then I will do that.” Marley comment.

And so she did.

Luckily her eldest isn’t difficult when it came to family. Marley spoke to him about it and he agreed that she could come to the institute. Arrived there she was greeted by him. “Oh, my dear boy.” She exclaimed. “I have missed you.”

“I have missed you too, mother.” Aiden hugged her.

Marley smiled at him. “What did I say? Call me mama or mam, not mother. I feel old by that.”

“Well, you are old.” Aiden remarked.

“Thanks, how is Alyssa and the kids?” Marley asked him.

“Good, very good.” Aiden smiled. “James married Elizabeth and together they have children.”

Marley looked at him. “So, I am a great grandmother and how many children?”

“Yes and 3 children.” Aiden nodded.

“Wow, now I feel really old.” Marley remarked.

Aiden chuckled. “You should meet them.”

“Really?” Marley asked.

“We can, but if you want to find River first?” Aiden asked back.

“Please.” Marley replied.

“Well, come to the center of the Institute and we can take a look around.” Aiden told her.

Marley looked at him. “We can? You are head of the Institute?”

Aiden nodded. “Yes.”

Then, she followed her son to the center of the Institute.

When they arrived there, she saw her daughter-in-law. Alyssa standing there. “Hello.” She greeted her.

“Hi ma.” Alyssa greeted her back.

“You have heard about River?” Marley asked.

Alyssa nodded. “Yes and we do everything in our power to get her back.”

“Thank you.” Marley comment.

Just then, they moved to a screen as Aiden pulled out a map. He pointed on it. “So here is the sewer under New York.”

Marley nodded. “Yes.” She pointed also. “Here under she is held.”

“Under the sewers is big.” Aiden comment.

“I know.” Marley nodded. “It was the closed thing I could get.”

“I know, mom.” Aiden told her.

Alyssa spoke up. “So we are going to search under the sewers?”

“Yes.” Marley nodded.

“Then, we will do that.” Alyssa comment.

“Thank you.” Marley thanked her.

“No thanks, we are family.” Alyssa told her, seriously.

Marley smiled at her.

The sewers were big, very big, but then they found her, they had found River. Aiden was leading his men and women, even Marley was there. They looked at around them, but saw no one. Whish was a relief, Marley went to her daughter. “Oh, River!” She untied her.

“Mama.” River was relieved to see her mother.

Just then, Aiden came to them as well. “River!” He exclaimed, happily to see her.

“Hai, Aiden.” River greeted him. They hugged.

Then, Marley looked around her. “We should get out of here, cause we don’t know what’s lurking about.”

“I agree.” Aiden comment.

They all arrived back and River needed a few days to gain her strength and to finally tell what ha happened. Just then, Marley had phone call from Faye. “He did what!”

Then, Aiden came to her. “What’s wrong?”

“Apparently, Damon and the others daggered Elijah. I don’t know how they did that, but I needed him and know I know why he didn’t call me back.” Marley replied to her son.

“Are they stupid?” Aiden asked.

“Yep.” Marley replied. “They are.” Then, she said goodbye to her daughter and hung up.

“They must be really stupid then.” Aiden comment. “Are you going to go or stay for a few days?”

“I’m going, but I will send Grandpa to your way. He’s going to look after River.” Marley replied.

“You have a new home now.” Aiden comment, bitterly.

Marley shook with her head. “No, this will always be my home, always.” She told him, seriously. “But the stupid people need my help and I know River is save with you. I’m not needed here anymore. Not now, at least.”

“Mama, please be careful with them.” Aiden told her, concerned. “They are dangerous and they can get you hurt.”

“I know and I will be careful.” Marley nodded. “I need to see River, before I go.”

“Of course.” Aiden nodded.

Moments later, Marley arrived in the hospital room. She around her as she had so many memories, not there, but everywhere she went in the institute. “So many memories.” Then she saw her daughter. “Hey, River. How are you?”

“Fine, thus so far, mama.” River replied.

“Listen I have to go back to Faye, but we will visit you soon.” Marley told her.

River nodded. “And my daughter?”

“She is with Faye. Grandpa will come as soon as I leave.” Marley replied.

“Okay, but mama. Be careful, i don’t know what’s out there still.” River told her mother.

“I will.” Marley nodded.
