CHAPTER NINE - Plotting

I clung tightly to Donnie as we rode through the sewers. Rowan was with Leo, April was with Mikey, and Vern was with Raph. I didn't mind it. Though, I don't think anyone has ever really held me this close before in such a way. It felt a bit...weird.

I had to clutch my beanie as we slid, and I was always ready to close my eyes in case water splashed on me. I didn't want it to get in my eyes. This was their home, though. I didn't want to say anything cruel or disrespectful.

Am I enjoying this too much...? I hope not.

"Satellite imagery shows that Shredder's reached the top of Sack's Tower!" Donnie informed us.

"If that's where he's releasing the toxin from," Leo paused for a second, "It's gonna spread over the city!"

We then slid through a broken sewer, and we all flew to the other side of a spare tunnel. We then made a left and broke through a vent cover, finally arriving at our destination. The turtles put us down as we began forming some kind of plan.

"All right, listen up," Leo said, clapping once. "We're gonna go find the elevator to the roof, while you guys," He motioned to all of us, "Get out of here, and get to a safe distance."

"No, no, no-" April then interrupted, stepping forward. "We'll just go get the mutagen from Sacks as a contingency plan," She explained, "Just in case, Y'know?"

Rowan grabbed my arm and looked at Leo. "Can we, uh...talk for a sec?" He asked, gesturing for us two to go talk behind a corner.

Leo nodded. "Make it quick,"

As we made it behind the corner, I looked at Rowan, confused. "What is it?" I asked.

"...You should go with them!" He whisper-yelled. "W-what?!" My eyes widened.

"Use your powers up there to exploit Shredder," He explained. "Tap into his mind and break him. As he's down, the turtles fuck him up and drag his sorry ass to hell!"

Though this whole 'plan' sounded great, I had big doubts. "Are you sure...? I don't even know if I'm that strong."

"You got this..." Rowan then hugged me. "Just...don't disappear on me, ok?"

I nodded, hugging him back. "Ok,"

We walked back around the corner, everyone was still there waiting patiently.

Rowan shoved me forward softly. "Let Korren go with you, with his gun and his 'powers', he can help take down Shredder."

"All right," Leo nodded. "Just stay safe. And if you do get the mutagen, bring it to Splinter. It can save his life." Rowan nodded as Donnie approached them.

"Sacks' laboratory is on the 36th floor," He informed, "I've already disabled the security system." Before turning around, he spoke once more. "Oh, and uh, good luck!"

"If I don't return, remember me April," Mikey began speaking, "You can always find me," he pointed to her heart, "In here." Raph grabbed him, pulling him with us.

Rowan and I laughed. "Be safe guys," I said, walking away with the turtles. As we ran down the corridor, Donnie notified us of the elevator ahead.

"The elevator is just around this corner!"

"All right, stick to the plan, and we won't fail!" Leo reminded us as we turned the corner. "Fan out in three, two, one- woah, woah, woah!-" We all stopped.

Dozens of foot soldiers stood ahead of us, looking in our direction as we stood there awkwardly. I cleared my throat. "You wouldn't happen to know where the elevator is, now- would you?" I grinned.

They yelled, starting to shoot at us. Donnie tore the wires to the door that caused them to close, I pulled him to safety as he ducked.

"...Not the elevator!" Donnie sighed, I rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment.

"You okay?" Leo asked me.

I looked up at him and nodded. "It isn't the first time I've been shot at today,"

Ok...let's find the ACTUAL elevator this time.
