QUINN'S POV

The Rink

"Good job at practice today kid" Kyle Burroughs said to me.

It was my third year with the Canucks and I was living my NHL dream. We had just finished our last practice before our game against the Jets tomorrow, and I was feeling confident in myself and the team. We haven't been playing super well this year so playoffs aren't in the cards for the Canucks, but that doesn't mean that we won't try to win tomorrow.

"I'll see you in the car Huggy" Elias said patting me on the shoulder. Huggy has unfortunately been my nickname for the past few years, and Elias refuses to call me anything but it. Elias Pettersson is my closest friend on the team, as well as my roommate since my family is back home in Michigan right now to support Luke.

I quickly grabbed my things and walked out of the arena to meet Elias in the car. We live in a three bedroom apartment just 10 minutes away from the rink with good traffic, which is perfect since the city of Vancouver is beautiful. I opened the trunk and threw in my stuff, before walking to the passenger side door and getting in. Elias and I normally take turns driving to the rink, since we are almost always there at the same times.

"How was the tinder date last night" I asked Elias.

"Shit, she was a total puck bunny" he said taking a deep breath. "Really hot tho, it was unfortunate she had no thoughts going on behind her big blue eyes".

I laughed at his comment, but unfortunately relating to what he was saying. most girls only go out with me for two reasons, the first being that I play for the Canucks, and the second being my brother jack. Because of these reasons I stay away from any dating apps, and girls in general. One night stands and hookups at clubs are okay, but I have a one time only rule to protect myself from being used by a puck bunny, or worse a girl who uses me to get to my younger brothers.

"You will be fine" I told him, trying to cheer him up. "We can go out after the game tomorrow, that will cheer you up".

Elias smiled and agreed, knowing that a night out on the town is exactly what he needed.

Elias and Quinns apartment

I heated up some leftovers from last night, before jumping into the couch and turning on the devils game to watch my little brother Jack play. He was doing well this season but I liked to watch the games and chirp him in the friend group chat.

I don't know why I'm in this group chat, but for some reason Trevor added me last year and since then I have been an active member. We take turns chirping each other about our games, but for the most part the boys talk about their lives and the girls that are a part of them. I turned off my phone and finished watching Jacks game, before heading off to bed so I could get lots of sleep before the game tomorrow.

I woke up the next morning to my alarm ringing at 7. Elias and I always got up early to go for a run before getting breakfast on our way to the rink. Today we grabbed breakfast sandwiches from the little cafe down the street. We sat in the car eating our food, while listening to some Swedish rap that Petey insisted we put on as good luck for the game later.

The Rink

After arriving at the rink we went to go get changed for the morning skate. We were told about a new interview routine that we would be doing before, during, and after games, and to prepare ourselves with some good answers.

"Dude the interviews suck, the reporter never knows what they are talking about and they ask the worst questions" Brock said while stretching.

"Just answer the questions with a smile Boeser" Coach said to him. We all know how much it means for Coach Tocchet that we come across as polite people in interviews, so more people will want to sponsor the team. Coach blew the whistle to start off practice and we skated to our positions. After practice we talked about our tactics for the game later that day, before hitting the showers. As I was walking off the ice, coach called my name and asked me to stay back for a second. "Keep that same energy for the game later Hughes" he said.
