Today was game day against the Devils, also meaning my younger brother was in town. I hadn't seen Jack for a few months, not since the Canucks played an away game against the Devils in September. Playing against your brother is one of those things that are bittersweet, since you enjoy being on the ice with them but you also want to kick their ass and win for your team.
I had already done my pre-game practice and was now getting ready to leave for the rink in my tux, ready for the game. Elias was waiting for me in the car since it was his turn to drive today so I got to sit and relax on my phone while we drove over.
The Rink
We arrived at the rink and were greeted by Lexie straight away who was taking pictures for the Canucks media. After we got through security we went and got ready for warmups, when I got a notification on my phone that I had beed tagged in a post by the Canucks.

We walked onto the ice for warmups where I saw Lexie in the tunnel sitting on her phone and working on something, so I walked up to go say hi. She looked up and smiled when she realised who it was, standing up and giving me a hug.
"How are you feeling" she asked me.
"Like I want to kick my little brothers ass".
She giggled at my comment, "I'm excited to meet him later tonight".
"I think you guys will get along" I responded.
"Maybe I'll have a new favourite Hughes brother after tonight".
I rolled my eyes at her comment, before she leaned in and gave me a kiss.
"For good luck" she said.
I walked onto the ice and started my warmup, still smiling from the kiss that Lexie had given me. When I was shooting pucks at the net I heard someone skate up behind me, turning around and seeing Boeser.
"Kissing girls before games now Hughes?" he said to me.
"You saw that?" I said playing it cool.
"Yup, we sure did" Elias said skating up beside me.
The boys were joking about the kiss, telling me how whipped I was and that they had never seen me smile as much before as I have recently. They asked me if we were dating and I gave them the simple and honest answer, no.
At the end of the second we were tied 2-2, so we went into the third making sure we were more determined to win then ever. Luckily Elias and his nasty hands scored the winning goal with only 10 seconds left, making us victorious over the Devils. We did some interviews after the game, happy to talk about the win and how we were planning on continuing this winning streak.
I met up with Lexie outside the Canucks media room were we both walked to my car and drove to the bar downtown to meet up with Jack. Lexie was nervous in the car ride, asking me a bunch of questions about Jack so she was prepared. I told her to relax and told her that it would be just fine, knowing that Jack already liked her because of how much I have told him about her.
The Bar
We walked into the bar and saw jack sitting there waiting for us. Lexie grabbed my hand as we walked in, squeezing it as we got closer and closer. Jack turned around and stood up congratulating me on the win, but also saying how he could have beat my ass if he tried harder. He turned to Lexie and smiled before giving her a big hug and introducing himself, before sitting down and telling her how he can't believe that I pulled her. Jack looked at me with a look I knew too well, the one where he was about to say something that he knows I won't like.
"So are you his girlfriend" Jack asked her, shocking me.
Lexie looked over at me and smiled, "Something like that yeah".
