FIVE YEARS LATER

LEXIE'S POV

The girls and I walked into the rink to watch Quinn play a game against the Devils. This game was extra special since Quinn was playing against his two younger brothers. Luke had made his NHL debut a few weeks ago and was now joining their team for a road trip for a few weeks.

Quinn had texted me earlier that we could come say hi to him in the locker room before the game so I could give him a good luck kiss like I always do. Holley was running down the hallway wearing a mini sized Hughes jersey that her dad had gotten her for Christmas last year, while I carried Peyton in my arms.

We walked into the Canucks locker room being greeted by all the players cheering for little Holley who ran up and hugged her dad. Peyton was squirming in my arms so I let her down, watching her walk over to her uncle Brock who was now kneeling down to hug her. The two of them were best friends and were so similar you could almost question if he was the father.

I walked over and gave Quinn a kiss before sitting beside him, watching the girls interact with the team. This was the first game that Quinn was playing while wearing the C, and I am so proud of him. Most of the team had the same players as they did a few years ago, some getting traded to other teams like Miller and Myers.

The girls and I wished the boys luck before leaving the locker room and walking down the hallway to go stand by the boards for warmups. Holley wouldn't stop mumbling about how excited she was to see her favourite uncles in the world, Jack and Luke. We stood by the glass and waited for the Devils to come out for their warmups, Holley yelling when she saw their familiar faces. Luke skated up to the boards and waved at his niece before Jack came up and joined him, throwing over 2 pucks for the girls.

Quinn saw us from across the ice, shaking his head at his kids being soft core Devils fans. The girls and i said bye to their uncles before going and finding our seats, meeting up with Logan and her little boy Isak. Him and Peyton were only born a few months apart so the two of them had become good buddies, Elias and Quinn liked to joke that they would end up together some day.

The game ended and the Canucks won 5-4 in OT. Logan and I were cheering for our husbands while our kids were snacking away on some food that the rink provided for us. Normally I didn't let the kids stay up late and watch games but today was a special day. After the game I took the girls home straight away so they could go to bed.

When Holley was a baby and we found out we were pregnant with another girl we decided to buy a house and raise our family there. Quinn and I found a perfect house a 30 minute drive from the rink and knew it was the perfect home for us. The team helped us move in and before we knew it we were raising two little girls who had more personality than the both of us combined. Peyton took after her father and had the same facial expressions as him, something Trevor and Cole love to joke about.

After the girls were put to bed I took a quick shower before getting into some comfy clothes and going downstairs to wait in the couch for Quinn to come home. I cuddled up with our cat Duck who was unfortunately named by Trevor after too many shots of tequila. Nobody knows why he picked the name Duck but once he said it out loud everyone thought it fit him well and the name stuck.

I heard the front door open quietly, a familiar face looking at me with a smile. "Are the girls sleeping" Quinn asked.

I nodded as he came and gave me a big hug, lying on top of me in the couch. He nuzzled his face by my neck, kissing it softly.

"You played well today" I giggled.

"Everything I did was for you Lex" he smiled.

The two of us lay and cuddled in the couch for a while, watching some episodes of Gossip Girl which was Quinn's new favourite show after Elias and I finally got him to watch it. When the episode ended he turned to me and smiled.

"I love you Lexie Hughes" he kissed me.

"I love you too".
