IT'S BEEN A FEW DAYS since the "dinner fiasco", and you and Alastor have not spoken once. This could be because Alastor is still angry about the incident and doesn't want to talk to you. Or, it could be that he's not sure how to approach the situation, and so he's waiting for you to reach out first. For instance, you thought about writing him a letter expressing your remorse for the incident and asking for a chance to talk about it in person. Even though none of it was your fault.
Alastor may be feeling jealous, you were paying attention to someone else instead of him during dinner. Writing him a letter expressing your regret and offering to talk about the incident could help him understand that you didn't mean any harm. This could help him understand that you still value him. On the other hand, it's also possible that Alastor is simply angry and doesn't want to talk to you at all. In this case, writing a letter could make the situation more complicated. Alastor could interpret your letter as an attempt to brush the incident under the rug and move on when he wants to address it head-on. In this case, it might be better to wait for Alastor to calm down and approach him in person when he's ready to talk.
'This is all too much...'
You may be afraid to trust Alastor and engage with him in case he gets angry again. Writing a letter could be a way of expressing your feelings without fear of an immediate reaction. How would he react? It's like throwing a stone into a pond - there may be some ripples that come back, but they will be far less intense than if you had jumped in directly.
