Lily Germaine was angry at me.
Everyone was, but Lily especially. I paced outside the Ice Palace nervously, waiting for mom. I could see everyone standing there, and I knew they could see me too, because Jesse and Peter were death staring me.
Mom walked inside, and I could tell she was relieved when she saw everyone.
"I didn't think anyone was going to be here." Mom said, quietly, before saying loudly, "Hey, what's up Don't Bother's? It looks like your ready to bother."
My moms smile dropped, when everyone stared at her unimpressed.
"What did I do?" She asked.
"Gave birth to a traitor." Maya snapped.
I stared at Lily, trying to catch her eye, but she stood next to Logan, staring at the ground. I wasn't listening to Mom talk, wanting Lily to look at me, but she never did, and before I knew what was happening, we were all being ushered inside the locker room.
"You're shutting us in a room that smells like feet, until we make up?" Maya asked.
"Yes, exactly." Mom smiled.
"Is that even legal?" Peter questioned.
"Sue me." She responded. "Just kidding don't actually sue me."
The door was shut, making me want to yell at my mom for leaving me to the wolves.
I turned to everyone, my eyes holding a nervous look in them.
"Thank you all for coming." I said.
"Your mom just locked us in here." Jesse snapped.
"True. And you want to know what else is true? That I only went to one Ducks practice." I watched as everyone's face turned more annoyed. "But as soon as I got there, I knew something felt wrong. I'm never going back. Please, you guy's got to forgive me. We have a big game against the Hornets coming up, and we have to pull together if we want a hands of beating them."
"Are they looking for a new player?" Logan asked. "I heard your available."
Jesse and Logan high-fived, making me clench my jaw tighter as I glared at him.
"You were supposed to be out captain." Lauren said. "Our fearless leader."
"I know, I screwed up, I'm sorry."
"You totally let us down."
"You can't walk all over us like that."
"You think you're better then us?" Nick asked. "Who am I kidding, I can't pull off anger."
Maya shook her head. "It's not about who's better, it's about loyalty."
Lauren turned to Maya. "Maya, should you really be lecturing anyone about loyalty? You're the one with the history of ditching people."
