Chapter: 28
******Conri arrived in the kitchen frightening the servants that were going about their duties with his aura. All he did was give a disapproving look and they disappeared from his presence. He needed to do this by himself. He doesn't need them cluttering his space while he worked on fixing brunch for his Omega, and with them out of his way, he threw on an apron which ended up being a lot tighter on his frame. The apron clung to his skin as if it were glued, and the fabric stuck to his sleeveless t-shirt so tightly, he had to rip the shirt off leaving only the apron which didn't help as it made the fabric stick to his skin even more instead. 'Shit, this wasn't built for me,' he thought. He should remember to ask for an apron made especially for him.
He had to take deep breaths to make it fit properly and to help his muscles relax in the tightness of this thing. He grabbed a pair of gloves and fixed them into his hands while taking care to not mess up anything else as he placed eggs, cheese, ham, and bacon on plates, then added a couple of different sauces to the plates. With his left hand, he took down three coffee mugs from the cupboard while pouring coffee. Although he wanted to do this himself, the house staff already prepared the meals and all he needed to do was set the plates, which was easy if he was being honest with himself since he doesn't remember the last time he made any edible meal. Wouldn't want to poison his Mate with whatever he cooks himself, which was shameful since he heard Xiher had single-handedly prepared his meals the previous day.
He took his time arranging platter after platter, he laid out eggs, bacon, toast, tomatoes, cheese, pancakes, and strawberries, amongst a few others. He made sure the food was evenly distributed on each plate and even though his body is protesting against the tightness of that apron, he managed to get the plates perfectly lined up on the glass table top. There he looked at his handiwork and let out a breath. It looked good. Perfect even. He can see his Mate's mouth watering at the sight. Conri smiled, his heart fluttered with joy at how well everything turned out. He looked around the kitchen and frowned at how messy he made it. 'When had he broken a plate and a mug?' He wondered as his eyes scanned the kitchen floor. There were a few scattered shards of the ceramic mug near the sink, and Conri groaned. His thoughts were interrupted when he felt a familiar presence behind him.
"Good morning, Alpha," She sang happily in a way he could imagine someone would sound after a night full of sex and drinking.
"Aren't you in a delighted mood this morning, Eva?" He smiled and asked, looking behind him, where she was leaning against the doorframe. Her eyes were twinkling, and a smile glued perfectly on her swollen lips. "What did you do?" He asked the Beta who shrugged and began to walk into the kitchen. "Eva?" Conri followed her with his eyes. Something in the way she walked seemed oddly... different than usual. "You're acting strange..." He commented, trailing her until she stopped next to the counter and leaned against the island with a sigh. The smile on her lips faltered for some reason, making Conri frown.
"Since I have been sentenced within the walls of this Manor, I think I may have lost my mind and slept with a few of your house staff last night. I don't remember which, but we were drinking in celebration of Xiher and you reuniting, and one thing led to another, you know," She told him with her voice sounding a little too casual. Conri flashed him a sharp glare and Eva narrowed her gaze at him. "What? I'm a grown woman. I have needs, and in a house filled with beautiful female omegas, who could resist!" She said, raising both of her hands in mock surrender.
"Whatever, I truly don't care what you have done. I am more interested in getting these dishes to the dining table soon before Caleb wakes up," He sighed, ignoring her words as he started washing his hands.
Standing upright now, Eva asked. "Caleb?"
"Yeah."
"He's back?"
