Eliza's blue eyes were trained on the fake spider webs in front of her. "Perfect." She mumbled to herself. It was Halloween and the dojo was decorated for it. Eliza mainly did all the work along with some finishing touches. "Hey guys! Great job decorating." He looked over to Eliza who finally glanced over at him with a smile. She nodded once before she walked over to a bench, sitting on it as she watched Kim and Eddie practice.
"Our Halloween festival tomorrow night is gonna be a blast!" Eddie grinned as Kim's attention went straight to Jack. "Yeah, but can we please change the name from Boo-Stravaganza?" Kim barely got the sentence out before she was interrupted. "No way! We came up with that!" He gestured to Eliza. "The 'Boo' part is scary." Eliza nodded, giggling. "Mhm! Stravaganza is fancy talk for party." Eddie said. "So, uh, Jack you know the Halloween legend about our dojo, right?" Kim put a hand on her hip as she asked. He lifted a brow. "What legend?" "This place wasn't always a dojo. It used to be a butcher shop called Meyer's Meats." Her eyes widened slowly, trying to scare the boy.
"On a hot summer's day...you can still smell the brisket wafting off the mats." Eddie frowned. "Wait, I thought that smell was Jerry.." Eliza frowned. Kim rolled her eyes as Jack stifled a laugh. "Eight years ago on Halloween night, Mr Meyers was teaching his apprentice...to make sausages." She spoke in a scary voice. "Someone say sausages?" April strutted in. "Hi April!" Eliza waved. "Hey, kid." April sent a smile her way. "What are we talking about?" She looked to Kim and Jack. "Some guy named Meyers.." Jack trailed off. "Oh yeah! Continue, Kim." Eliza nodded. She let out a tired sigh. "Apparently he did something Meyers didn't like. Words were exchanged, pork started flying, Meyers snapped, picked up a meat mallet..and when it was over...his apprentice was dead." Jack scoffed at her story as April just stood there and blinked at the story.
"He was dead. Deader than dead! So dead—" "I think they get it!" Kim almost yelled which seemed to scare Eliza more than the story itself. "The legend, is his headless body still haunts this dojo." "Stop trying to scare us. It's not gonna happen." Jack scoffed. Eliza's brows furrowed in confusion as someone walked up to the group, groaning and moaning. Whoever it was happened to be in a strange costume. "Look! It's the apprentice!" Kim yelled out as April grabbed a nearby bo staff. "Oh no. The bad meat man is going to kill us." She spoke in a monotonous voice. "Bad meat man!" She yelled out before swinging the bo staff as the person in the costume cried out in pain. "April!" Kim cried out as Jack and Eliza tried to contain their laughter. "Milton's in there!" Eddie snatched the bo staff from her. "Oh. If only I had known." She rolled her eyes before doing a subtle handshake with Eliza.
. . .
Eliza and April sat in the cafeteria at their normal table as Eliza threw chips into April's mouth. "Keep em coming." She let out a sigh. Kim, Milton, Eddie and Jack joined the two at the table. "That pyscho butcher story you made up yesterday was pretty cool, Kim." Jack looked to the girl. "Not to Jerry, he actually started having nightmares about it.." April said before chewing on her food. "I told him that one Halloween night, Mr. Meyers will come back...and bad things will happen to whoever he touches." Eddie said spookily. "Why are you guys trying to scare Jerry?" Jack questioned. "Hello.. It's Halloween. It's what you're supposed to do." Kim shrugged. "So," a voice joined in. The voice didn't come from anyone at the table which caused everyone to turn their heads at the sound of it. It was Frank and the Black Dragons.
"I hear you guys are hosting Boo-Stravaganza at the Mall." He crossed his arms. "Sure hope nothing happens." "What's that supposed to mean, Frank?" Milton piped up. "Hey, we spent a lot of time and energy on this party." Jack stood up to face him. "So, I hope you and your guys aren't thinking of trying anything." The boy pointed to them. "Cause if you remember when you try things, it usually doesn't go too well." He threatened. "Maybe you should take your sister trick or treating." Kim spoke up. "Maybe I will!" Frank grumbled, stomping away with his crew.
