"Oh yeah! Check it out! I got this!" Milton cheered as he practiced a bo staff routine. April cringed as she watched next to Jerry. His form was all wrong and the staff looked like it would slip out of his hands any second now. "I got this.." His eyes widened as he started losing control. Eliza walked out of the bathroom, her attention immediately on Milton and his actions. "I don't got this! Whoa!" The bo staff went flying and landed right in the wall between April and Jerry. They both let out loud screams at the same time as Eliza had covered her eyes the second she saw the stick take flight.
"Dude, you just put a hole in the wall!" April yelled. Jerry went to drag the stick out but it was pulled back in. He tried again but the same thing happened. It eventually became a game of tug of war before the staff slide all the way back into the wall and he hit his head on it. April almost laughed.
Instead, she just quietly commented on how he deserved it before Rudy walked out of his office. "Hey, that looks like the bo staff we just los— He did it!" Jerry said, pointing to Milton. "What is wrong with you? We have the biggest tournament in the history of this dojo tomorrow." He lectured. "That's right. Tomorrow I get my orange belt." Eddie smiled. "That is exa—Wait, that's this tournament?" Rudy questioned. Eddie frowned as Eliza raised a brow. "I mean—Of course it is! Yeah, we all very proud of you." Rudy said as Eliza offered Eddie a smile. "Hey, where have you guys been?" Rudy yelled to Jack and Kim who just walked into the dojo. "Practice started a half-hour ago." "Sorry, Rudy. It's Wednesday. We volunteer at the nursing home." "We volunteer at the nursing home!" Rudy mocked.
"Since when do they volunteer at the nursing home?.." April asked Eliza who just shrugged. "Get your priorities straight, people! Tomorrow is the Champion's tournament!" "Where I am getting my orange belt!" Eddie chimed in. "I said we're proud of you, now zip it!" The older man groaned. "Rudy, man, you're a little wound up, but we are ready for the tournament. Kim's been helping me with my spinning back-kick." Jack gestured to the girl. "Yeah, show him, Jack!" She smiled, grabbing a board. Eliza's brows furrowed. She usually helped Jack..but she didn't mind much. As long as he was ready for the tournament. Jack demonstrated the move as everyone clapped proudly. "Pretty good." April nodded, smiling towards him. "That was perfect! You need to do exactly that tomorrow. You never know who's gonna be watching you!" He said the last sentence awfully weird which made Eliza tilt her head in slight confusion. "My whole family's coming to watch me get my orange belt!" Eddie started. "Aw, that's—" Eliza tried to compliment but Rudy cut her off. "Oh, please. Let it go!!" Rudy groaned in annoyance.
. . .
"Yo, yo. Karate tournament tonight, guys." Jerry, April, Eddie and Milton stood by the stairs trying to get a crowd for the tournament being held at the dojo tonight. Jerry tried handing the tickets to two girls and two guys who just ignored him. "Jack and Eliza'll be there." April said nonchalantly as she crossed her arms. The four kids immediately turned back to grab the tickets before walking off. "Wow." April simply scoffed before a group of girls walked up to the friends. "Hey, tell Jack my friends and I will be at the tournament to cheer him on." She smirked. April rolled her eyes. He probably wouldn't care much but she tried not to say it aloud. "I'm competing also, so I guess you'll be cheering me on, too. Right?" Jerry smiled.
"Jerry, you and I will never.." The girl started but Jerry pushed his finger against her lip, shushing her. "Let's not rush this, okay? Let it breathe." He smirked. "He put his finger on my lips and it smelled like feet!" The girl yelled, running off with her friends. "Woah, a ladies man you are." April commented quietly. She'd been doing that lately instead of being a lot meaner than she could have been. She'd also been a lot quieter after the whole situation with Mika a while back. She barely wanted to speak to Jerry a lot of times.
