As the group prepared themselves to leave the sight before them was enough to freeze each one of them in place. Nancy cried out in shock as she took in the destruction and devastation of the gate. It had left a massive trail of fire and dirt cutting right through the whole trailer park. Screams of terror and pain filled the air around them as they slowly stepped onto somewhat solid ground and moved away from the gate as far as they could.
Eddie skittishly looked around, scared someone would recognise him but as soon as he realised everyone was too busy running for safety he calmed down a bit. "I say we get the hell out of here before anything comes out of that damn hole!"
"We need to get Steve to the hospital first!" Nancy replied, worry in her voice as she looked down at Steves poorly bandaged hands.
"No, Nance. We need to make sure the kids are okay first and then get Eddie to the cabin!" Steve exclaimed, shaking his head. He noticed the scared look on the older mans face and briefly forgot about the pain. "We can't afford to have anyone recognise him right now."
"Steve is right, we need to get Eddie to Hoppers cabin!" Dustin said, backing Steve up.
Nancy groaned in frustration but she knew they were right. Until they were able to get everything sorted and clear Eddies name they couldn't afford for him to be seen. She nodded her head a couple of times before looking around. There was no one now in sight but she spotted an abandoned van a few feet away, thankfully in a part of the trailer park that had remained unscathed.
"Hey, Eddie? Think you can hot wire that van over there?" She asked hopefully.
"You know I can, Wheeler!" Eddie scoffed as he pulled away from Robin and Dustin. The pair went to grab him but he managed to stumble out of their reach and slowly but surely made his way over to the van. He jiggled the handle and was happy to find the van wasn't locked. He quickly hopped in the drivers seat and got to work.
Not even a few seconds later, the van roared to life and the rest of the group hastily made their way over. Eddie hopped out of the drivers side and sat himself on the floor in the back of the surprisingly empty van, quickly joined by Dustin who had to get help from Robin, who sat across from them. Steve took the passenger seat while Nancy threw herself into the drivers seat, not even bothering to buckle herself in as she immediately sped off.
They all sat in silence as Nancy navigated her way around the massive rift, having to find an alternate route to the Creel House since the rift had cut across the road she needed to get down. Dustin and Eddie shared worried looks while Robin leaned forward to check on Steve. She could tell he was still in a lot of pain but trying to hide it. She knew he wanted to seem strong infront of them all.
"What do we do once we get the others, drop Eddie off and then get Steve to the hospital?" Dustin asked, breaking the silence. He was sat awkwardly in the back, trying not to put much pressure on his bad leg.
"I don't know, Dustin. I don't know!" Nancy murmered just loud enough for them all to hear. Steve glanced over and saw the terrified look on her face. He fought the urge to reach over and comfort her. Instead he turned to look behind him and his eyes connected with Eddie's. He felt a weird feeling in his chest and quickly turned away, looking straight ahead.
Nancy gasped loudly as the Creel house came into view. The three in the back got up and they all looked at the rift that ran straight through the Creel House.
"STOP THE CAR!" Steve screamed, already opening his door and jumping out, ignoring the pain that shot through his hands. He ran as fast as he could towards the house, the others hot on his tail as soon as the van had stopped. Steve, Robin and Nancy ran up the path and into what was left of the house.
