The warm morning sun shon through the crack in the curtains, illuminating half of Steve's peaceful face. Robin couldn't help but grin as she stepped into the livingroom to find her best friend sleeping peacefully on Eddie's shoulder. The metalhead had his head resting on Steve's and he was snoring lightly.
Not wanting to disturb them Robin quickly turned to sneak into the kitchen and hit her elbow on the doorframe. She cursed out loud and grabbed her elbow, momentarily forgetting no one else was awake.
"Are you okay, Rob?"
She jumped at the sound of Steve's voice and almost banged her elbow again. "Fuck, I forgot you're a light sleeper if you're not sleeping in a bed."
Steve chuckled and walked over to her, taking her arm and inspecting her elbow. "That's going to bruise. You're lucky Eddie is a heavy sleeper! What time is it?"
"Just gone 8am. You've still got time before you pick Lucas up." She replied as they both quietly made their way to the kitchen so Steve could whip up some breakfast.
"When did I get fruit?" Steve asked, confusion in his voice as he opened the fridge to see what he could make. The silence that followed told him all he needed to know. "You left my backdoor unlocked, didn't you?"
"Maybe..."
"Is your Mom trying to adopt me?" Steve chuckled.
"Oh god, I think she is. I dont want a sibling! Having you as a best friend is bad enough!" Robin scoffed.
"Oh Buckley, you wound me!" Steve exclaimed quietly, dramatically clutching his hand to his chest.
"So... how did you and Eddie end up snuggled on the couch?" Robin asked, quickly changing the subject and asking what she had been dying to since she found them that morning.
Steve groaned as he grabbed a handful of different fruit as well as some yoghurt and set them down on the counter. "You won't leave me alone unless I tell you, will you?"
Instead of replying she just gave him a look as if to say 'do you even need to ask that?'. Steve rolled his eyes as he began to chop up some strawberries. "Fine, we sat out by the pool for a little bit and smoothed things out. Then it got a little cold so we moved to the livingroom and just got to know each other a little better. I don't think either of us planned to fall asleep, Rob."
"Nothing else happened?" Robin asked, disappointment evident in her voice. She pulled herself up onto the counter next to him and pouted. "Booooo!"
"Why are we booing Steve?"
Robin yelped and almost slid off the counter as the sound of Eddie's voice took her by surprise. "Dude! I'm going to put a bell around your neck! Were you eaves dropping?"
Eddie chuckled and rubbed his eyes, missing the nervous look that spread across Steve's face for a second.
"I have better things to do than eaves drop, Buckley. All I heard was you booing Steve. Before that I was barely with it." Eddie replied, a playful look on his face.
Steve went straight back to preparing breakfast, unhappy with the fact he was unable to tell if Eddie had heard anything else. Either he had a really good pokerface or he genuinely didn't hear anything. Steve hoped it was the latter.
Steve put the chopped up fruit into three bowls and set them down on the table along with strawberry yoghurt. As he did so his bare arm brushed against Eddies and he resisted the urge to do it again. He liked the warm feeling he felt whenever they were touching, even when it was just standing side by side.
The trio ate breakfast in comfortable silence, Robin and Steve occassionally bickering while Eddie watched in amusement. Once they were done they all had enough time to shower before they left. Steve took one first and while he waited for the other two he heard the doorbell ring. He frowned as he jogged down the stairs to go and see who it was.
