Nancy chewed ferociously on her bottom lip as she raced back to Hawkins in Steve's car, Eddie still ducked down in the back seat. She was grateful that it was dark but at the same time, right now, she feared the dark and what or who could be lying in wait.

"Wheeler, I don't think Hawkins is safe for me either!" Eddie exclaimed from behind her, trying to keep his balance as she swerved quickly round corners.

"It's safer than you being out in the woods where we can't reach you easily!" She shot back.

Eddie knew she had a point and didn't bother to reply. He just settled down as best as he could as he felt Nancy start to slow down a little. He hoped she had a good place to hide him.

In her mind, Nancy went through all the places she might be able to hide him. Annoyingly it wasn't a big town so it limited her options but she knew there had to be somewhere. It was a shame she didn't have her own place...

"Wait, I know! I know where I can take you!" She exclaimed triumphantly, slapping the steering wheel. "I'm taking you to Steve's!"

"Wait, what?" Eddie asked, peering over the seat and giving her a look of concern. "What about his parents?"

"They're never home. They are always away on business trips." She replied as she drove through the familiar rich neighbourhood.

"Won't they come back when they hear about what's happened in Hawkins?"

"Sadly they are selfish. Steve has pretty much been on his own since he was twelve." Nancy said, feeling sad for Steve while also feeling hatred for his shitty parents. While dating Steve had rarely ever taken Nancy to his own house and at the time she had wondered why. After a while she had realised it was because he didn't want to be at home. Alone in a big house all the time. They had mostly spent time either round her house around her family or around town in the local hang out spots.

"It's amazing what you find out about the people you thought had it all." Eddie murmered just loud enough for her to hear. He felt bad for ever thinking Steve had an easy life. All those years in school when he had watched King Steves reign. "Won't he mind if you use his house?"

"I don't think he will. He would probably be happy to have someone else around to be honest." Nancy smiled to herself as she pulled into the Harrington driveway. Just as she had expected all the lights were off and the the driveway was empty. She parked the car and got out, assessing the area before letting Eddie out. They both grabbed the bags and quickly walked to the front door. Nancy set her bag down as she searched for Steves spare key. Thankfully it was still under the same flower pot at before.

Nancy opened the door and ushered Eddie in first before following him in and shutting the door. She turned the light on and noticed that the big house was exactly how it had been two years ago when she had last been there. It was fully furnished with a lot of paintings on the walls and ornaments littered around but it still had that empty feeling to it.

"Steve has a couple of spare rooms so you can use one of those. The hospital discharged him so I think he will probably come home sometime soon." Nancy said as she led him up the stairs and to the left where she knew the spare rooms were. She opened a door and set the bag down by the untouched, single bed. "I'm going to go back to the hospital now and let Steve know. I'll call you from there when I have news. I'll ring, hang up and then ring again so you know it's me, okay?"

Eddie nodded to her as he took in his surroundings. He hadn't had much of a chance to look as Nancy had ushered him upstairs as soon as she had shut the front door. He was sure he would get to look around later on but until Steve was home he didn't feel comfortable looking around without permission.
