*Alexia's POV*

I stumbled beside my brother, my tiny feathered wings flapping slightly behind me as I struggled not to fall.
"Tan! Wait!" I whined, tripping over a tree root and scraping my knee.
"Lia." My twin brother Tristan appeared suddenly beside me, examining the small scrape the began bleeding slightly.
"You be ok." He promised, giving me a hug.
I pouted, tears blurring my sight.
"stings."

My brother simply nodded and pet my head gently when a loud snap caused us to flinch.
"Ssss." Tan whispered, scooting closer.
"Where are the little brats?" A voice growled out, sounding annoyed and out of breath.
"Relax Dan, we'll find them. I think I heard one of them from over here." Another man said, his voice getting louder as he got closer.
I whimpered softly in fear and buried my face into my brothers shoulder. I felt him shift slightly as the voice became louder, clearly getting closer, before one of them let out a shout of surprise, followed by a bang and growls.

My tiny body trembled in my brothers hold as someone's breath blew softly against the exposed skin of my arm.
"You're safe." Someone whispered, gently setting a hand on my arm.
I peeked at them to see a small group, two girls and two boys. In front of me was a girl with black hair and warm, brown eyes. She gave me a small smile and glanced back at the others, a girl with blonde hair and grey-blue eyes, a boy with dark brown, nearly black, hair and brown eyes and a boy with black hair and dark brown eyes.

I sniffed and shifted closer to my brother, my eyes going back to the first girl.
"I'm Hesterin. These are my friends, Callie, Griff, and Ryo. What's your names?" She questioned, settling down in the dirt in front of me.
I glanced at my brother nervously before looking back to Hesterin.
"Twistan an Alesia..." Tan mumbled, pointing to himself and then me.

"Tristan and Alexia?" She questioned, not understanding our half formed sentences. Tristan nodded softly and looked in the direction the voices were coming from, worried the bad men would come back for us.
"How old are you guys?"
"Two..."
"Two years old and the hunters were going after you!?"
"Better question," the man with black hair began, studying us curiously.
"How are they so... mature...? How many two year olds do you know can talk in almost complete sentences? And be smart enough to run away from those men?"

"Good point Ryo, but we should get moving. We have to get back to the watchtower before dark." Hesterin mumbled, pursing her lips.
"We can't exactly fly there, since you two don't like having people on your backs." The man with brown hair grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Well, we could hike to the human town nearby, get something to eat and maybe stay at a motel tonight?" The woman standing right beside the second man suggested, giving us a warm smile.

"Carrie, that's not a good idea, not with him looking for us." The man argued, scowling softly.
"Look at them, they're obviously exhausted and hungry. Plus, we need to stop to get them clothes."
"Enough Griff, we don't have any other choice at the moment. Carrie and I will take the kids to the store to get clothes for them and you and Ryo will get us a motel room or two ok?" Hesterin demanded, leaving no room for discussion. The man with the brown hair -Griff- sighed heavily, but nodded and Hesterin turned back to me.

"Would it be ok if I carried you Lia?" She asked softly, pointing to the blood drying on my leg. I nodded and held my arms out to her, allowing her to pick me up and balance me on her hip.
"Let's go guys, we're losing daylight. The longer we're out in the open away from the watchtower the more chances we have of gaining his attention."
The other three nodded and we rushed through the thick forest, carefully jumping over fallen logs, sidestepping trees at the last second and avoiding getting stuck in rabbit burrows along the way. Eventually I fell asleep out of boredom, my mind wandering to the men who were chasing us.

*Hesterin's POV*

I smiled as I noticed Alexia's breathing even out while we ran through the woods. After what these two have been through I'm glad she trusts us enough to rest. I glanced back at Tristan who I assumed was Alexia's twin and my mind again wondered how he could keep up with the four of us. I couldn't tell what type of supernatural he was, but it wasn't hard to know he was one, with the feathery wings flapping around behind him.

We'll have to do more digging later...
Oh yeah. Do you think they know what they are?
There's a chance, but I mean, they're two. I doubt they know a lot about anything right now
Only one way to find out....
Technically there's multiple ways-
Shush.

I chuckled softly to myself and began slowing down as the humans city lights came into view.
"This is where we split up. Ryo, Griff, don't take too long on finding a motel, preferably somewhere close to the forest. Come find us when you have a place." I instructed, walking out of the forest and studying the city.
"No."
I turned back to see Tristan shaking his head wildly, his dark, thick hair bouncing on the top of his head.
"What do you mean 'no'?"

"can't go dare." He stepped back, bringing his fists to his head.
"Too loud." He whispered. It was then that I noticed Alexia stirring in my arms, a pained look overtaking her face.
Panicked, I took three large steps back and she slowly started to calm down, although the look on her face didn't leave.
"Ok then... Carrie, do you think you could go without me? Get some things that might fit them?"
"Yeah, I'll be back." She muttered, taking off down the road. The boys looked at me with matching worried expressions and I rolled my eyes.
"Go you too, help Carrie. Get some food. We're setting up camp in the woods tonight"
