After everyone was dressed and fed we began making our way back to the watchtower, the thick forest making it seem as if time was passing slower than it was. Callie and I were walking together with Alexia and Tristian following close behind while the two idiots were rough housing in the very back of our line.

A squeak broke through the mostly quiet air, followed by a low growl.
"That's not true!" Griff argued, pointing an accusatory finger at Ryo.
"Of course it's true, everyone knows it. You just choose to ignore the facts." Ryo calmly replied.
"You liar! Why would they-?" Griff's complaint was cut off as he emerged from the bushes, a smirk on his face. He wore a tailored suit he always wore in my nightmares while the pale white scar covering half of his face seemed to become translucent in the sunlight.

"Ah, if it isn't my favorite guinea pigs." He greeted, clapping his hands together. Lia and Tristan cowered behind mine and Callie's legs, gaining the attention they didn't want.
"Oh look, they even have my little pets. Come on now, we have plenty of catching up to do. You're all so naughty for running off."
I vaguely felt Alexia trembling before I let out an earth shaking growl. He didn't react, other than his smirk widening.

"I see you haven't lost your courage. What a beautiful thing to have."
"We're not going with you. Leave, before things get messy." I threatened, glad my voice stayed steady.
"No, I think I'll stay and watch the show." The moment he voiced the last word roughly a dozen of his men -all clad in black army suits complete with ammo and guns, among other smaller weapons- jumped out of the trees and charged forward.

"Wat doen we!?" Alexia hissed at her brother behind me.
"Weet je nog wat we deden toen we weggingen? Dat doen we weer." Tristan replied, taking his sisters hand and taking off into the woods.
"Any idea what they just said Hes?" Callie asked, slamming her fist into one of his men.
"No, but I hope they're going somewhere safe while they can." I replied, landing a sharp kick to one of the men's stomach and then head butting a second one.

"I'm just curious how they can speak whatever that was, and in full sentences." She squeaked as someone launched a punch in her direction, barely giving her the chance to dodge it.
"Let's worry about that later, hm? Y'know, when we're not fighting for our lives and freedom."
"Good idea!" Ryo called, flipping someone over his back and slamming him on the ground.
After fighting for a few minutes a herd of deer charged into the fray, their eyes white with fear as the trampled the men who didn't jump out of the way in time. Which was -luckily for us- the majority of the group.

The four of us hopped into the trees and watched as Alexia trotted after the herd, a frown on her face.
"No scare!" She cried in English, glaring back at her brother with the cutest scowl.
"Sorry!" Tristan called as he appeared, shrugging his shoulders.
I glanced at my friends who were already looking at me and I'm pretty sure we were all thinking the same thing.

Where did these children come from?

We decided it would be better if we flew the rest of the way there so we shifted -causing the twins to gasp and stumble over eachother to pet us- and hurried the rest of the way home.

We called it the watchtower for two reasons; one, it was essentially just that. Two, as long as we were within fifty feet of the building itself nothing could hurt us. Literally, it's as if there's a spell around it. It watches out for us.
The building itself is quant looking from afar, maybe twenty by twenty by twenty feet. What no one else knows is the inside of the building makes it seem much larger. There's at least a dozen bedrooms, five bathrooms, two large libraries, an indoor gym and a few offices.

We landed smoothly on the sand and Alexia and Tristan hurried to the ocean, the waves splashing against their ankles as they made their way further out. I shifted back first and made my way over to them.
"C'mon guys. Let's go inside." I gestured to the building and they followed -albeit begrudgingly.

I led them to the hallway with the rooms and allowed them to pick their own before Callie came up to me.
"We should look in the libraries. The boys are in the right wing, we can do the left." She suggested, glancing in the room Alexia was inspecting with a very serious face.
"I'll help later, I don't want them to think we don't care. Do you think you can handle it for a bit on your own?"
She smiled softly at me and nodded, giving me a quick pat on the shoulder before she walked off.

*Callie's POV*

I knew Hesterin was lying. Sort of. Thanks to him, none of us could have children. Her dragon has taken a liking to the twins and as such now sees them as her own dragonets.
I sighed as I made my way to the left wing library to research anything I could about the children, I'm not going to lie, it was starting to scare me how old they seemed compared to how old they are.
I pushed open the door and began scouring through the books. I first started with The Basic Guide to Supernatural Creatures, but when I didn't find anything I moved on to the next section.

A/N this chapter is a bit short... and the ending is lame lol but if I put any more in this chapter I would be making a whole new chapter instead of adding like 100 more words to this one if that makes sense. Anywho, it'll pick up where it left off in the next chapter, I hope y'all like it so far!
