Y/N's POV

You poked at the meat sitting in front of you. Your mother looked at you.

"Y/N, why are you poking at your food?"

"I'm just not hungry, I guess."

"But it's your favorite. Is there something bothering you?"

"Well... kind of."

All of your siblings looked at you.

"Go on, sweetheart. Tell us."

You looked at your dad. "Appa... When I was out earlier, I saw something strange."

He glanced at you. "What was it?"

"There were these... bright blue eyes. I've never seen them before. It was a wolf; I know it was. I think there was someone here."

He gulped for a second. "I don't think it's anything to worry about."

"But father, I heard you talking to Zuho last night. I know this wolf was bad news. Who is he?"

"It's nothing for you to worry about, Y/N."

"Father-"

"We are not discussing this anymore. Eat your food."

The whole table went silent as he raised his voice. You looked down and fiddled with your fingers beneath the table.

You were sitting against a tree, watching your siblings do random things here and there. One of your siblings was sitting near you, so you called out to him.

"Jin-ah."

Hyunjin looked at you. He was your older brother. 4-year difference. "Yes?"

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Ask away."

"Do you know anything about what I saw yesterday?"

"Are you talking about the thing you asked father about at breakfast this morning?"

"Yes."

"I know some of it. What did you want to know?"

"Anything you can tell me. Who was that wolf? Why is he here? Where did he come from?"

"Well, I don't know all of those answers, but I do know a few things. He's from the Min pack."

"The Min pack?" This was the strongest pack in these woods.

"Yes. He is the alpha's son. He is next in line to be the leader. He is very strong and hardly any of us could take him down."

"What's his name?"

"That, I do not know. It's kept a secret."

"Father must know, I presume."

"He does. He won't mention anything about him to any of us. That is our enemy, Y/N. Don't get mixed up with them whatever you do."

"Why was he here?"

Hyunjin looked around the both of you and then leaned closer to you. You leaned closer to him, making the two of you only inches apart. His voice came out as a whisper.

"We stole something from them. Something very important."

"What is it?"

"I don't know. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. But I know it's strong. Only the most powerful are able to possess it."

"Why did we take it?"

"Power. It's a competition. One day, I have a feeling our pack will fall to the Min's. But we will avoid that at all costs."

"What will happen if they defeat us?"

"We will lose everything. I'm sure we will all be killed or used for their benefit. I don't know about you. Everyone wants to protect you, Y/N. You should listen to father when he says to stay here. It's the safest for you. He is just trying to keep you alive. The wolf will return, and if he sees you again, we can't guarantee that you'll be okay. He might take you, kill you, or leave you alone. We don't know."

"Why would they take me?"

"You're not as strong. And you're a girl, Y/N. If they find out who you are, our father would come after you."

"Once I get my wolf, I'll be just as strong as all of you."

"Has father still not told you?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Do you actually think that your wolf is late? Everyone is born with the power to shift into their wolf form." 

"Father told me that I am a late bloomer. It runs in the family."

Hyunjin looked around you again. Then he sighed.

"Y/N, you're not a late bloomer. You're not going to get a wolf form."

"What do you mean?" You were very confused.

"Why didn't you tell me?" You looked at your father with tears in your eyes.

"Y/N..."

"Did you even plan on ever telling me?"

"Yes, I did. Trust me, I did."

"You lied to me."

"I know, Y/N. I feel awful about it. I always have." He tried to reach towards you.

You backed away. "My parents are dead. I'm not a wolf. I don't belong here. Didn't you ever bother to tell me anything? All this time, I believed the lies that you told me. I thought that I was family."

"You are family, Y/N. We all love you."

"Did you expect me to live here my whole life without finding out? I don't fit in here."

"You belong here, Y/N. This is your home."

"Because you took me away from my home."

"Your parents died, Y/N. I couldn't have just left you there alone. The moment I saw you, I fell in love. I knew I needed to protect you. You were such a little child. You needed me."

Tears began to slip from your eyes. He looked at you with sad eyes.

"All of this time, I'd hope that I would be like everyone else. I wanted to be a strong wolf like you. I wanted to fit in. And I believed that one day I would. But you know what, you broke that hope. You destroyed it." You turned away from him and started running into the woods.

"Y/N! Please! I'm sorry! Don't go! It's dangerous!" You ignored his calls and just continued running. You ran until you couldn't anymore. And you had no idea where you had ended up.
