Violet strolled down to the pub to meet everyone. It was Steve and Chrissies wedding. Not a sentence she thought would ever come out her mouth but here we are.
As she was on her way she saw a group of small children playing with a broken fire hydrant that was spurting out water that painted the grubby pavement an even darker colour. It was a shame how some children have everything and others have nothing but the clothes on their back... if they're lucky.
"Ello Bunny" Came Sids voice as him and John rounded the corner,
"Hi Sidney" she chuckled, "Rotten" she acknowledged, her tone becoming much colder,
He nodded to her with the same icy expression. The pair had sorta had bad blood with each other since the bathroom incident in the hideout, constantly making each other jealous by going out of their way to flirt with anyone in the others eyesight. It had all started of as a game but now Violet found no fun in it anymore.
Violet bounced a long side Sid as they neared the pub making sure to keep outta the way of the bad tempered redhead.
"Look theres Steve's mini" she pointed, noticing the green car parked round the back,
The three stopped seeing Steve and some woman engaged in something quite heated.
"Someone's not been behaving" John cackled as he and Sid approached the car excitedly, Violet following behind them skeptically,
John jumped on top of the car banging his fists on the windshield laughing "unlucky git"
"John... Sid!" Violet called but her protests were brushed off,
"Having fun Jonesie" Sid sang, "we're telling Chrissy" he said, grabbing Violets arm and dragging her away with them,
Along the way to the pub they picked up (stole) a boquete of flowers from a near by stool.
John walked in with a cheeky smile plastered on his face "I came to offer"
"It's not that kind of wedding" Chrissie snapped,
"My condolences" he finished taking the flowers from Sid "you have been jilted. He's otherwise engaged with another woman"
The group ooed like school children. Chrissie shooting a look to Violet who did nothing but hang her head in embarrassment from her friends careless actions.
"I just saw him. He's not coming... not in that sense anyway" John grinned whilst the group ooed again,
"That little fucker" Chrissie thundered "couldn't keep it in his pants for more that 15 seconds could he?"
"That's our Jonesie. But never fear" John said running up the pub stairs making trumpet noises "Chrissie! Will you marry me? Pleaseee?"
A few moments of silence fell over the room as everyone waited in anticipation for the brunettes answer. Violet stared up at him disbelievingly, her hearts pace quickening as each second ticked by.
What was he doing?
"... fuck fine yes can we just go" Chrissie finally huffed,
"SHE SAID YESS!!!" John rejoiced,
The place erupted in cheers and applause, the day was saved. People starting to sing as John skipped down, taking Chrissie by the hand as he span her around before everyone headed to the door, flooding out into the street.
A red double decker pulled up next them and they all hopped on. As Violet went to reach for the metal bar she paused, dropping her hand and taking a step back.
"Gettin on love" the bus driver asked,
All she could do was shake her head before it began to pull away. Violet sighed as she dragged her feet back to the little green car where she found Steve slumped dismally inside.
She yanked open the door dropping herself into the seat next to him, the pair wearing the same sullen expression.
"Guessing the weddings off?" He grumbled,
"No, she's marrying John" she told him, her eyes becoming unfocused like she was in a trance,
Steve said nothing but finally turned to look at her, not knowing what to say to his friend in that moment.
"Take me home?" She exhaled, meeting his eyes,
"Yeh... I'll take you home"
No more fun and games.
