------Jason's POV------
"I still can't believe you managed to talk me into this," I said, grumbling as Lucas squeezed past me.
"I still can't believe you said yes," he shot back, smiling as he sat down, buckling his seat belt.
Somehow, Lucas had managed to convince me and my mom that I needed to come to Texas with him while he met with his dad. He hadn't seen him last time, and Lucas was worried that something had happened. I, being the only one Lucas had told everything to, had reluctantly agreed to fly out with Lucas over Spring Break.
"I can't believe I have to witness this the whole way.” Zay said, sitting on my other side while pulling out a bag of chips.
Ok, maybe I wasn't the only one he told.
“You know, you didn’t have to come,” I said.
“Actually, Jason, I did,” he responded, mouth full of chips. “If my mom found out that Lucas came back and I didn’t, she would flay me alive.”
“Oh.” What does one say to that?
“That and as Lucas’s BFF and BTF and BNYF-”
“What are those?” Lucas said, laughing.
“Best Friend Forever, Best Texas Friend, and Best New York Friend.”
“Sorry bud, but Farkle’s my BNYF. You’re not wrong on the other two though.”
Zay gasped. “What? After what you just said, I’m not sure I want to be that anymore.”
"Oh, don't be like that, Zay."
"Excuse you, I know you better than anyone else, I get yo be your best friend everywhere."
“Ladies, ladies, you’re both pretty, can I go home now?” I said.
“No, you’re stuck with us.” Lucas smiled and slung an arm around me. I shifted uncomfortably underneath it, not used to the weight of the Texan's muscled arm. It felt nice at the same time it felt… wrong.
"Great," I said nervously.
"Don't worry," Lucas said, "You're still my BFFAT."
I raised my eyebrow at him. "Your what?"
"Best Friend For All Time."
"Oh," I said, blushing as Lucas pulled his arm back. "Glad to be your friend, pal." I wasn’t really. I didn’t want to be just a friend, but I guess that’s all we were going to be.
He smiled as the plane began to taxi down the runway. The intercom crackled, and I heard the pilot say that we were expecting some turbulence midway over Tennessee. I gulped nervously. “We’re gonna be ok, right?”
“Oh yeah, Lucas and I have flown tons of times. The pilots are trained and really careful. Besides, the middle seat is the safest place to be,” Zay said, trying to reassure me. It wasn’t really working, and my panic made its way to my face.
“Hey, just breathe,” Lucas said, putting his hand on my lap. That didn’t exactly help things either. “Take a deep breath in, deep breath out.” I tried to follow to the best of my abilities, and things started to calm down. “If you want, you can hold my hand if you get scared.”
“Really?” I said, blushing from his proximity and his statement. If my face got any redder, I’d turn into a tomato.
“I swear, Lucas, if you and Jason start making out I will jump out of this plane.”
“What?!” he yelled.
“Uh, bathroom!” I tried to jump to my feet, but I got caught on my seatbelt. I unlocked it and raced into the bathroom, hip checking an old lady out of my way. I slammed the door, and sat on the toilet, the heat rushing to my head and… other areas.
